Success Story: 1963 Studebaker Transtar

Back in December, we featured reader Dan M’s sweet Studebaker Transtar as a BF Exclusive. Shortly after we featured it, he had a buyer lined up. A few days after that, the deal was done, but it took the shipper a while to get there to pick this truck up. Well, we just heard from Dan and here is what he had to say – The truck has now officially been picked up and delivered to its new owner in California. Thanks again to Barn Finds for helping me find it a new owner that will be able to get it back to its former glory.

We are glad we were able to help find a good home for this Studebaker and we want to thank Dan for giving us the chance to do so!

Would be nice if the buyer could keep us posted with some updates.

Always loved Stude’s. Got my licence at 16 on my dads 51 Commander that I had been driving part time since I was 14. Shouldn’t the title be 1953 not 63?

Since Stude was so low on cash, I doubt they spent any money for a redesign.

In 1954, my parents moved back to Salt Lake City, Ut area from Lovelock, NV (about 90 miles east of Reno on I-80.) I was born there in 1949 so was 5 when we moved back. They bought a 1953 Studebaker pickup, baby poop brown as my mom called it, to move to Utah. They didn’t have it long and bought a 55 Chevy sedan so we had more room for them and 3 kids.
Here’s a picture of it, I think the same summer we got there, along with my Uncle Wayne’s Mercury. We were having a picnic with family.
My older siblings all still say that when I was 2, I knew the difference between a Chevy and a Ford, but not a cow or a horse.

The truck arrived safe and sound at it’s new home. It will have to wait it’s turn in line for restoration behind a couple of other Studebaker trucks that I am currently working on.
