Bloomington Gold: 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Sometimes cars will appear on our desks here at Barn Finds, and it is difficult to determine what their most significant attribute is. This 1969 Corvette is a perfect example of that dilemma. It presents beautifully, which makes it no surprise to learn that it is a multiple award-winning vehicle. Amongst its trophies is a Bloomington Gold and a Gold Survivor Certificate, meaning that it is the best of the best. It also has a genuine 14,935 miles showing on its odometer, which means that it should have a lot of life left in it. Perhaps its greatest attribute is the fact that there is now the chance that you could park this immaculate classic in your garage. Located in Columbia Station, Ohio, you will find the Corvette listed for sale here on eBay. The BIN has been set at $54,900, although there is the option to make an offer.

A chrome-bumper C3 Corvette will always attract a lot of interest, and this is especially true when it is an original and unmolested survivor. That is the case with this car, which is finished in Cortez Silver. The paint is all original, with the vehicle never receiving any repaint or touch-up work. The paint shines beautifully, and the factory hardtop appears to be perfect. We don’t get to see the Black convertible top, but you would have to believe that its condition would be somewhere close to perfect given this car’s Bloomington status. The panels are free from any problems, with no signs of any crack or crazing. The underside photos reveal some surface corrosion on some of the mechanical components, but it otherwise looks immaculate. The chrome shines as beautifully as the rest of the vehicle, while there are no apparent glass issues.

Just when you thought that things couldn’t get any better, that’s the moment when we open the doors and take a look inside this Corvette. The black vinyl interior is original, and it seems to embody the term “time capsule.” There are no aftermarket additions and no signs of any issues with the upholstery or trim. The dash is faultless, while the carpet’s condition is remarkable for a vehicle of this age. Opening the glove compartment reveals a treasure trove of documentation. This includes the original Owner’s Manual, the original Bill of Sale, Protect-O-Plate, Warranty Booklet, Scheduled Price sheet, Corvette Owner’s Card, Wheel Trim Ring Card, radio instructions, and engine starting procedure. There are also copies of all of this classic’s titles. The owner has also chosen to include all of the Certificates and Awards that the Corvette has accrued throughout its life.

Given its Gold status, it should be no surprise to learn that the Corvette is a full numbers-matching classic. We find the 300hp version of the 350ci V8, a 4-speed manual transmission, a 3.36 Posi rear end, and power steering. This configuration should see the Corvette capable of romping through the ¼ mile in 14.6 seconds. The engine bay presents as well as you might expect for a clean and unmolested survivor. Those looks don’t deceive because the owner says that the Corvette runs and drives perfectly. With only 14,000 miles on the clock, this is no great surprise. Given the level of documentation included with the car, I suspect that the odometer reading can probably be verified.

Bloomington Gold and Survivor Awards are not given away lightly. The scoring process for these awards is stringent, and the judging is performed by people who have an intimate knowledge of the Corvette brand. That means that this car has passed some intense scrutiny, and it has come up trumps. It also means that the buyer will be purchasing one of the best original 1969 Corvettes in existence today. It isn’t a cheap car, but its condition and status would seem to justify the asking price. It also makes it a classic worth considering as a long-term investment as an alternative to stocks or shares. Hmm, a Corvette or a Share Certificate? That’s a no-brainer to me.

I have never owned an old corvette !
I am a topless car fan and would buy this beauty in a heartbeat but being canadian immediately doubles the price
And i could not afford it and would have to pull myself out of retirement to pay for a car …
Im simply too comfy to go back to a 9 to 5 for a car …dream on !

Nice to see a fair asking price for a change. This car is honest and absolutely priced right. Almost seems like a bargain at $55k! I hope the sale goes smoothly and the new owner drives and maintains the car as it has been up to now. Wouldn’t it be cool if you could buy it, fly in, go get the keys and drive it back home?

Well, 1 muffler has been replaced, but that’s understandable.
Interesting how an independent rear allows 1 to run exhaust pipes without the usual big loops over a solid rear axle. I would imagine that frees up a few horses – & i assume those are performance mufflers, despite them being big/long.
If that’s original silver paint, it sure looks better than the silver paint i seen on new ’76 firebirds & ’87 monte carlo SS’s.
If those are original tires, i would imagine the bulk of the driving was done in the car’s 1st 20 years.
& i would imagine such hood fit(in this case on the driver’s side) was typical back then.

Nice to see all the original paperwork, Protecto Plate (Warranty Card), and has survived with its originality and very low miles. Two owners too, that is cool. Having NCRS Top Flight, Bench Mark, Bloomington Gold, etc., all helped sell the car. Not sure if the seller got his asking price as it shows that the car is no longer available for sale. Would be a great car to take to Corvette Nationals and have it NCRS judged there. Looks like it went through Regionals but did see that it went to Nats.

I own a 1970 with 31,000 original miles that I bought from the one family owners. Hoping to get it NCRS Regionally judged in 2021. Would have been this year if it was not for Covid19.

Make some room for the trophies and ribbons your car will bring home.

I wonder if it leaks at the windshield base and the dissimilar metal below.
