March 26: Canadian Auction Of Cars And Tools

collage

Four cars and seven sets of tools ago, our auctioneers–ok, wrong speech! However, there’s no reason not to listen to the auctioneer at McSherry Auctions on March 26 in Stonewall, Manitoba, Canada, where four cars and a LOT of tools will be going up for auction. Thanks to reader Jeff G. for turning us on to this great find!

Car number one is a 1974 Chevrolet Nova two-door with a 350 V8 and 46,000 original miles. We don’t know anything else about the car, but it certainly looks to be in nice shape in this picture. Other than the missing rally wheel center cap, I can’t find anything else wrong in this picture.

Car number two is a 1975 Pontiac Firebird, also with a 350 V8 and having 89,000 miles. I wish there were some underhood and interior pictures.

We see how eclectic this collector was when we get to car number three, a 1970 MGB with only 59,000 miles. Apparently this person liked relatively low mileage original cars–which makes the fourth car an unusual choice.

The 1952 Austin A40 Somerset is obviously in need of some work. And it’s been kept out in the cold and wet, although at least it’s been under a cover. It just really doesn’t seem to fit with the other three cars. Nonetheless, it looks very restorable.

There are also tons of tools, both power and hand, up for auction as well. Assuming that no one has gone in and straightened up the tools afterwards, whomever owned this equipment was incredibly organized, and that speaks well for the cars as well. I wish I were in that area during the auction period! Let us know if you check it out; we’d love to have an auction report for Barn Finds! Also, tell us which car you’d be interested in the most! Even though I’m a British car fan, I really like the looks of the Nova.

I wonder what the “Ford V8 engine” is?
Could be anything from a 30’s flathead to a Super CobraJet?

Yes’ a whole lot, possibly due to metric and standard needs for his cars?

I always feel sad when I see what evidently is a lovingly cared-for small grouping of cars and tools stored properly. Did another gearhead pass away and the remaining family turn everything over to the auction house? That Firebird looks like it could easily have been shielded from a heavy right foot. It is a base model with optional Formula spoiler package. Good color combo–probably a saddle interior which looks great 40 years on if not left out in the sun! I wish I could attend this sale.
