Cat Coupe: 1977 Jaguar XJ6C

1977 Jaguar Xj6c Side

There were many XJ6’s built throughout the model’s lifespan, but relatively few coupes ever left the factory. This 1977 Jaguar XJ6C is one of a little over 9,000 pillar-less coupes built between 1975 to 1978. This driver quality example is available here on eBay with four days left and bidding at $2,000.

1977 Jaguar Xj6c Engine

This car is fitted with Jaguar’s 4.2 liter inline six and twin carbs. The V12 was also available in 1977, but only a couple hundred were every produced. The seller claims that they have replaced all the fluids and flushed out the fuel tanks. We would want to have a specialist take a look at all the mechanicals to make sure there are no issues. Things could get real expensive real quick if there are.

1977 Jaguar Xj6c Front

These coupes are handsome cars, if you can overlook the rubber bumpers. If you cant, then they could be replaced with some series one bumpers for a much cleaner look. Many of these cars were known to have weather sealing problems, so it would be a good idea to inspect everything inside and out for water damage and rust. Also, this car has been resprayed so you will want to verify if they removed the vinyl top before painting it. If not, there may be some rust lurking under there.

1977 Jaguar Xj6c Moto Lita

Here is a view from behind the wood rimmed Moto-Lita wheel. We wouldn’t change much about this car, but we would want to flip those tires around to hide the lettering and have the front seats recovered as soon as possible. If everything checks out and the reserve is not set too high, this could provide many miles of high speed luxury for the next owner.

The tires are just fine! Keep ’em away from curbs! I can even live with the seat covers!!!
