Cheap 1961 Dodge Town Panel Barn Find!

For anyone lamenting the fact that every vehicle seems to be priced way out of reach these days, check out this 1961 Dodge D100 Town Panel. It can be found here on eBay in Seldon, New York with an incredible buy it now price of $1,450 or you can make an offer. This one has been in a barn for the last decade.

The photos aren’t the best but they show enough of this Town Panel that most people who are even remotely fans of Dodges would want it. The Town Wagon would normally have had side windows and would be more passenger-oriented than a Town Panel which would have been for hauling duty.

You can see that there will be rust to deal with and I sure hope that this one will be saved. It would be great for a family project vehicle to teach welding and bodywork. There is more than enough room inside to make it a rustic weekend camping vehicle like I used my Dodge vans for.

There’s no automatic in this hairy-knuckle Dodge. In 1961, the wheelbase was lengthened to 114 inches from 108. I may be the only nerd here or anywhere who would restore this truck back to original spec. At one point in my life, I was all about customs and resto-mods, even before there was a term resto-mod. Now, I like to relive the past and I’d love to have this Town Panel looking like it would have when it left the factory.

The engine is a 360 cubic-inch V8 and it runs with gas in the carb but that’s usually code for needing-to-have-the-fuel-system-gone-through. Just add it to the list of items to fix. It sure would be fun to have it in working condition and pick away at it as time and money allows.

Ad sez auto but I see a stick and three pedals. Even better! Make it street safe and drive it while you upgrade or restore it. The price is as fun as the the truck itself looks. Wish it were closer!

You must live on the east coast or upper Midwest, slots are plentiful and cheap on the west coast. They survived in great numbers and in good shape since there is no corrosion from salt and other chemicals used in the winters. I just picked up a pair of 15×10’s, 5×4 3/4 bolt pattern that had been sitting in someone’s backyard since the 1980’s, all they will need is a light polishing before they are ready to install. They are a bit dated looking, but work well on cars trying to recreate a late-60’s to early-70’s vibe.

Guys that’s why God made lug nuts so you can change the wheels. Yeah there’s a lot of rust to to deal with but that’s a great price.
