'31 Chevy pick up

Here’s a barn find fresh Chevrolet pickup and it even has a little snow on it! Listed here on eBay and parked in Pandora, Ohio, this 1931 Chevrolet pickup is already bid up to $1,625 with the reserve met.

'31 Chevy pick up engine

This truck comes with the original straight 6 engine and gearbox. There is no mention if the engine spins, mileage, or when it was last run.

What you see is what you get with this no-reserve auction. From a floor standpoint, it doesn’t look like you are getting a lot!

'31 Chevy pick up rear

There is no tailgate with the truck, just a makeshift one made of wood. We believe the owner will include it at no extra charge!

This truck comes with a title, so you could license it for street use. The seller will allow the buyer to store the truck as long as needed if they have been paid in full. They think this project is good to restore or turn into a Rat Rod.  The choice is up to you.

Motor-on,
Robert

I see a real opportunity here if the seller really will store it for you. You can own this great old truck and not tell your wife! You can make planns to haul it home next summer, or the one after, and dream of how you are going to restore it. All the while, you don’t need a place to store it. Surely you’ll visit it at least once. When you finally tire of it, you can just give it back to the former owner. Does anyone else see a great business model or even an iPhone App here? Everyone loves to procrastinate and a lot of us love classic, or at least old, vehicles. This could be the greatest thing since selling a bridge!

What a great starting point for a restomod I’d keep the stock look but make many changes starting with a refit of a Chevy Nova front sub frame, which would give you independent front suspension, disc brakes, rad support, V8 engine mounts, trans mount, and steering column all in one easy package. Than add in the Nova rear axle and inside of a couple of months you’d have a running driving classie just waiting for body work to catch up. For a very reasonable price you could have very nice street rod built in one winter. Forest green with black fenders and running boards, finished off with gold pin striping. Finally stock steel wheels also forest green chrome dogfish hub caps with beauty rings and fat white wall tires. This would be something that your grand kids would want to keep when you die.

1929 was the first year for 6 cylinder engines in the trucks and cars. The engine shown is also not the original one. It has a connection for a heater. It also should have been an updraft carb and not down draft. So at least the intake/exhaust manifold is wrong.

I like David’s idea. This might spread to Museums as a good fund raiser. “Will store your dinosaur.”
