We reported a few weeks ago about an enthusiast in Michigan that was forced to clear out his collection of project and parts cars. This is not a phenomenon unique to the overzealous zoning boards found in U.S. municipalities, apparently, as established by this article found here on Classic & Sports Car, where a UK collector must clear out his collection of cars including one of two Jensen CV8s.
Unfortunately, the CV8 pictured above is the better of the two and the seller is keeping it. Of course, he plans to restore it – a project that began in the 1970s and has languished ever since. Also available is this sweet Scimitar GTE, one of three the seller has listed. Parked in between is a fairly common MGB, which may be best suited for parting out or scrapping due to low values and healthy inventory.
Here’s another of the three Scimitars. The seller certainly seems motivated to sell based on the magazine interview, but other mentions about this individual found on social media indicate he has a propensity for high prices and lack of interest in selling the truly collectible bits. Hence why almost everything that’s listed for sale in the above article looks fairly ordinary, and the one car that truly excites – the CV8 – isn’t up for grabs.
Well, technically – there actually is a second CV8 that is for sale, but it’s one of the worst cars in the collection. Online chatter from those who have seen it in person indicate the floors are gone in this handsome coupe. Combined with the other anecdotes mentioned by passers-by that indicate the seller has set his prices too high for any of these languishing hulks to have a shot at living again, it’s perhaps best to hope that the parts from these cars help keep another one on the road.

Go restomod if you leap into rehabbing the CV8. It’s an oddly attractive touring car that can fit a V8.The hardtop looks better than the ragtop. Fatter tires…aggressive stance…exhaust…paint…done.
Didn’t know if you knew, they were manufactured with a Chrysler V-8, hence the model name, I suppose, so a restomod with a hotter V-8 should be a piece of cake. Regarding the Scimitar in your last picture, it has the wheels of a Middlebridge Scimitar, of which only 78 were built. Most of the Reliant models had Wolfrace mag style wheels, I believe. The shooting brakes are nice, but I like the coupe version better.

The wheels on the Scimitar are standard for the model. They are Dunlop alloys. The Middlebridge had an alloy which had multiple spokes, not slots. Here’s a pic of one I used to own.
The CV8 i’d snap right up and do a total resto on. And he’s keeping it????
I always wonder why people allow these vehicles to languish and rot. When he parked them they probably weren’t in too terrible condition as they are now.
