This Jeep J10 has spent some time in the desert and sure looks the part. In fact, the seller has taken advantage of the location for some of the pictures included in the auction listing here on eBay. I suppose I should point out here that bidding is starting at 99 cents with no reserve, and it’s still there right now, so those of you looking for a bargain should click on that link right now. It’s located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Here’s one of those pictures I was speaking of. The hood and roof have obviously had the paint sunblasted (is that a word?) off, as has the top of the bed sides. I think I’d go ahead and finish the job of removing the molding that’s peeling off the side anyway. I’m guessing this is where the Jeep has been living. It’s also apparent the seller likes his dog; not a bad thing in my book! Those wheels are aftermarket Mickey Thompsons and I think they suit the truck well. It looks like there is a break in the chrome over the passenger side headlight, but it’s hard to tell more from the photographs. The seller does tell us that the undercarriage and frame have no rust, although there are no pictures to validate that claim.
We don’t get a lot of pictures of the outside of the truck, and the inside indicates a lot of use, although I’m encouraged by the look of the original upholstery underneath the seat cover. Dirty, yes, but certainly not shredded. Actually, that description pretty much describes the entire interior as far as I can tell. Also, with only 6,839 1980 Jeep pickups built of all full size series there aren’t that many still on the road. This one has a two barrel version of the AMC 360 engine, but the seller is also including a four barrel intake manifold and hardware, but no carburetor. According to the value guide here, low retail is $3,060, so there’s a lot of room left on this one. Would you be a bidder if it were (is) near you? If so, how much?
Grille looks correct, but it must be an early 1980 as it still has the ‘eyebrow’ .
I believe it was late 81 or 82 when the “brow” on the roof went away. You never know with Jeeps, lol. Lots of stuff passed through the line while they were using “production” parts up. The grille looks correct for a 79 through early 80’s model for one of these. The 79 – early 80’s models went to a laminated steel frame, as did many domestic brands. They don’t last last as well in salty conditions. Nice looking truck, a well worn example of one of these. They are like hen’s teeth on the east coast.

My neighbour had an early 80’s chev pickup and a Jack Russel that always stayed with that truck. If he left the truck at his barn next door the dog would stay until he brought it home.
It seems to have been taken off eBay ??? I was going to purchase it to restore, and it says it is no longer available.
