Dry Ranch Rig: 1984 Jeep Laredo

With under 50,000 original miles, this 1984 Jeep CJ7 Laredo has lead a gentle life living as a ranch vehicle in Texas. Apparently, ranch work wasn’t too taxing given the condition the Jeep is in, with mostly original paint and no obvious signs of modifications or abuse. Bidding ends soon with the auction wrapping up Monday afternoon here on eBay, and it’s over $15K with the reserve unmet.

Looking quite sharp with its soft top on or off, the CJ7 obviously wears some aftermarket wheels – but they’re a period look, so it doesn’t detract from the overall state of preservation. The colors are excellent, with a maroon base accented by orange and tan stickers and a roll bar an interior to match. Tires look to have deep tread, and the plastic fender flares retain good color.

The interior is really one of the high points, as CJ7s were never considered luxurious. With a near-mint cabin to come home to, it reminds you that Jeep put some extra effort into the Laredo packages to up the ante for customers willing to pay. The door panels and carpeting all appear excellent, and it’s hard to believe this interior hasn’t been restored.

The undersides confirm that this Jeep has clearly resided in desert-like climates, with the seller stating it has been in Arizona and Texas since new. The air conditioning system has been refreshed but still has a leak somewhere as it doesn’t stay cool. Other tweaks include an aluminum valve cover and new exhaust manifold/downpipe. As they say, find a better one.

Looks fun and in excellent shape. 15k fun hmmm these jeeps have garnered some favor as of late. Could be the next hot collectible, tough to find with low miles.

So being a lowly sergeant, out looking for a missing 2 star for hours and just about to give up. Then I saw tracks on the wrong road, 5 clicks the wrong way, there he is stuck, off the road, red faced, pissed with a broken driveshaft. I yelled, “are you stuck?” He got out and walked up my rig and said, “No, you are.”

Those are factory Jeep wheels which came standard on the Laredo package.

Unsold at 17k… which always begs the question, “Wonder what they expected? ”
Nice looking ride, but another question I have … 2 rust spots on the floor board? Not sure I understand how that would be, but I don’t live in a place cars rust. But I always thought quarter panels first. Go through puddles, mud gets on the inner fenders, sits there until it dries etc etc what do I know, again, just struck me as odd

Clean, low mileage, doesn’t look like it’s been molested!! I’m thinking that they have there reserve around 25K

Beautiful CJ but I wouldn’t buy it if I could. It’s way too nice to use as a Jeep was intended to. I already own an 85 that is way too nice to use as intended. Gets old owning a beautiful 4×4 that you’re afraid to use. Pointless actually unless you want it to admire and get compliments. Mine’s going bye bye soon because it’s just too nice to use.

Is this CJ 7 Laredo still for sale. I am in the UK and interested in how much the final asking price is if it’s not sold yet
