Dusty 1969 Corvette 427 Stingray

1969 Corvette 427

Thanks to Jim S for this fabulous find! This dusty and dirty Corvette has been hiding in a garage since 1988. It’s currently located in Coatesville, Indiana and is for sale here here on eBay where the opening bid is $20,000 with a reserve higher than that. The 31,441 original miles may well be accurate since the car was probably bought more as an expensive toy than transportation. It’s equipped with the 390 horsepower 427 cubic inch V8 and an automatic transmission, and it’s VIN makes it the 2,017th Corvette of the 38,762 coupes built in 1969 according to this decoder. The layer of dust and dirt is so heavy on this car it’s hard to tell what color it is, but I think it’s white. The paint shows enough damage in detail shots that I’m not sure if it can be cleaned and preserved or not. I’m a little concerned about the underhood pictures as the decals look too worn to me for a 31k mile car–and why didn’t someone bother to shut the hood sometime in the 27 years?. It is nice to see the original wheel covers and side pipes, and if the pipes are original there were only 4,355 cars equipped with that option. It will be interesting to see how high bidding on this car gets; what do you think it’s worth?

Not OEM, but I like the look of them, if you are into WHITE LETTERS on Vettes like I am.

once again bulls**t on original mileage, tires are not original, once again these were driven and not tucked away in a garage. for the currant bid, you can buy one for not much more in running condition.

Another story with XXXXX original miles. But condition appears to say other wise. If I was listing a vehicle with 31k miles I would have a ton of pictures of a good, but dirty interior and a bunch of the under carriage and anything else to help verify milage.

There was a silver w/ black interior 4speed one of these that had been in hiding for almost 40 years burnt up a month ago in my home town. Guy was a hoarder. Had piles of stuff all over his proprty. Fire started in a garage and spread from pile to pile. Burnt house and everything to the ground. A late 60’s beetle 39 ford pickup a cuda another 30’s pick up and the vette are all charcoal now. Such a shame.

Even if the car is matching #s to being it back could cost you 15k is the car worth that when one can buy a nice one 20k….

You can’t buy a nice BB for 20k. At least one without immediate needs. The 68 – 72 chrome bumpers are starting to go up in value, finally.

If he wants 20k for this, he needs to take a LOT more pictures, give a better description, and clean it up a bit. Enough with the Barn Find condition BS.

Just saw one of these out on 79N outside of Erie. It looked great in silver and black just cruising. I stayed behind for a while then passed, those side pipes had a great sound. Now I know why guys want one and are willing to spend the bucks on restoration.

Yeah. Too good to be true. I’ve learned a lot over my years about these so called barn finds..lol on many other comments with people of the same opinion. There are a lot of what I call boobytraps out there with these old cars. It’s very easy to end up having more into it, than you will ever be able to get out of it. Your almost always better off finding one that’s already done. Good luck to anyone out there considering these project cars.
