Estate Sale Model T Update

1915 Wide Track Model T

The other day we featured a cool wide track Model T that is going to be sold at an state sale next weekend. The auction house just updated their site with more photos so we wanted to run an update. This car was restored at some point and won many awards, but has been sitting for the last few years. It’s dusty, but I bet it will clean up nicely. Let’s just hope they leave the dirt on it so bidding doesn’t go too high. If you are in the market for a Model T and live anywhere near Raleigh, North Carolina, this might be worth a look. You can find more information here on Raleigh Auctions. Also, Jamie lives in the area and has mentioned that he is willing to help out in anyway he can!

Anybody know what original “nonstarter” engine means? We have been asked if this vehicle has this ??

Kathy, I’m no Model T expert but I’m guessing they are asking if it has an engine without an electric starter; just the crank alone. The self-starter was not available until 1919 and wasn’t standard until after that; this car is older. I suspect many people retrofit early T’s with self-starters as I know if I had one I wouldn’t want to crank start it every time!

This drawing shows what the engine looks like from the top. The item circled in red is the starter on a starter-equipped engine. If yours DOESN’T have that item then it’s the “nonstarter” engine type. Hope this helps!
