EXCLUSIVE: 1965 Jeep Gladiator For $1,500

UPDATE – The seller claims this one was stolen. Hopefully they will recover it soon.

With a name like Gladiator, you know this Jeep was built to battle all kinds of terrain. Alright, maybe they aren’t the ultimate off roader, but they are still quite capable of going off the beaten path and still comfortable enough to be driven in town everyday. Think of them as the all purpose tool, it’s not great at any one task, but fully capable of a wide range of tasks. This one is going to need work, but reader Annette W wants to see it go to a good home and is asking $1,500. If you are interested in giving this Jeep a good home, it can be found in Seattle, Washington and you can contact Annette using the form below.

From Annette – This J200 series pickup has had a 327 Chevy motor swap with a 3-speed automatic and a Ford nine inch rear-end. It could be an amazing street rod for a loving new owner

Interior Condition: Seats could use a recover everything is serviceable as it is right now

Mechanical Condition: Runs drives down road new brakes wheel bearings and seals tabs and plates are current carb could use a refresh and it’s manual steering right now as a prior owner was building it as a Gasser .but all power steering parts are there needs a steering knuckle but you can drive home if you are local

Body Condition: Body needs some work, as does the paint. The cab is solid as is truck bed. Could definitely use work though.

Alright, so the photos aren’t the best, but from I can see this looks like a pretty solid truck. Hopefully the engine swap done correctly, but given that it runs and drives already, I’m going to guess everything is working as it’s suppose too. It will need some work to the steering and there appear to be plenty of dents and dings to address as well. Personally, as long as there isn’t any serious rust, I would just get the steering worked over and drive it as is! What about you? Special thanks to Annette for listing this Gladiator with us!

Could be a nice little truck. You don’t see Gladiators anymore.

Why are all the cool trucks located on the Great Northwest?

Not all of them. There was one by me in western Pa. Western truck nice shape. He painted it and never put back together. Might even still have it.

I’ve always thought the Gladiators were much better than after AMC got a hold of them. Again, builders preference, the original drive train was fine, but a SBC? Ford rear? A Gasser out of a J200? These are pretty rare, kind of a shame it went this route, for me. I’d gut it out and return it to a stock 4×4. Be worth a lot more like that, I feel.

A gasser 4×4 ??? So I take it the front axle is been removed for a straight axle, if not that original front axle would add too much weight up front for a gasser. This just seems weird.

Hi JW, looks like a straight axle. Can you imagine the “death wobble” with this baby? At speed? No thanks.

Yea Howard after posting I took a closer look at the first photo and seen the straight axle. I might be 1 of 1 since I have never seen a pickup gasser.

These rigs have killer looks. It’s definitely on my lists of vehicles to own one day.

This is such a masculine truck. I just grew a beard looking at the pictures.

Is that Steering Wheel factory? It looks like something you might find as an option on a Classic Musclecar. Thoughts?

Was interested until I saw the engine swap. BARF on another vehicle ruined with a bellybutton motor.

Was slightly interested with this being from Seattle (my location), but the vagueness of the “it could use some work” tagline threw me off the scent.

Humblest apologies, Annette. Tough crowd here. I realize, this may have been a loved ones project, it just a little unusual to see a truck like this, converted to a dragster. I guess that’s what keeps life interesting, especially on this site, we’re all different. Best of luck.

Had a J2000 to do local plowing in eastern Pennsylvania. That thing never got stuck. To bad rust killed it.

Maybe its just me, but there is always a lot of discussion here about the high price of old iron. And I admit, I am one that thinks a lot of the rigs that come through here are overpriced. Well gang, here is a $1500.00 nice project. A couple bucks, some putzing around when you have time and you would have a nice truck to be proud of. Look at the price of Broncos and Scouts and old trucks in general. I am surprised a flipper has not snagged her already! If it wasn’t across the Country from me, I’d be on it.
