EXCLUSIVE: 1976 Chevrolet Camaro LT Survivor

The 1976 Camaro LT wasn’t the hottest second-generation Camaro, but they came with lots of options and from the context of their times were actually quite good. This could actually be one of the cleanest examples we’ve seen in some time. Reader Mark W actually traded a different vehicle for it and while he’s enjoyed this 52k mile survivor, he’s ready to see it go to a new home! If you’d love to inspect it, have any questions or would like to make an offer, be sure to message him via the form below.

From 1974 to 1978, the Camaro saw a number of cosmetic and performance updates. I suppose some might say they were downgrades, but at least the chassis and interior didn’t see many changes. The aluminum bumpers are the most noticeable exterior change but were necessary to meet new safety standards. Technically, you can backdate these cars to pre-74 standards, but it would require a lot of parts and work. Given how clean it is, we would leave it alone and just drive it!

Since emissions and fuel prices were strangling performance, Chevy tried to market the Camaro LT being more of a personal luxury car and less of a muscle car. With their competitors downsizing their cars, the Camaro managed to standout and sold quite well even with the decrease in performance. We wouldn’t call this a super luxurious interior, but compared to the Mustang II, this looks simple and quite spacious. It appears to be in very nice condition and is ready to enjoy as is.

In ’76, there were several engine options starting with a base six-cylinder, a 305 V8 or a 350 V8. This car is equipped with the 140 horsepower 305 V8. It’s said to run well with no issues, but it could use some detailing. As you can see, it’s equipped with AC, but there’s no word on whether it works. Even if it needs a rebuild, it’s nice to have all the AC components in place. While a 350 would be more fun, the 305 is a nice engine for cruising!

If you’ve been on the hunt for a clean classic that you can jump in and enjoy, this Camaro seems like a great option. It looks nice and is said to be free of any major issues. So, if you’re interested in making Mark an offer or have any questions, be sure to contact him!

It appears to me to be a repaint. Color match rally rims, I believe, didn’t start until 1978. The license plate bracket is supposed to be black. That being said, very nice appearing car. However, the color white hides repair work. Bring a magnet when looking it over. It is in the rust belt, after all. I like it enough I would check it out if I didn’t have other commitments. Painted or not, it could be a nifty cruiser.

The attached pictures show a build sheet with another sheet, a copy of the window sticker (?) with all the options and on the bottom is written in “Brown Metallic/Light Buckskin”. So it has been resprayed. The interior looks very tidy tho.
