EXCLUSIVE: 1977 Pontiac Grand Prix SJ Survivor

You might remember seeing this Pontiac when we initially featured, Yvonne B’s collection of cars. Well, this lovely Grand Prix SJ needs to find a new home! It was her son’s pride and joy. And, it’s easy to see why! It’s a nice driver that won an award or two at local events for its originality. Under the hood, you’ll find the 400 cui V8 and the car looks to be in good shape throughout. So, take a closer look and message Yvonne via the form below.

What Makes It Special? This is a 400 V8 with the 4 barrel carb and the transmission automatic. And, it’s in original condition.

Body Condition: The body is straight and this car was a trophy winner for originality.

Mechanical Condition: The engine is original to the car and is a nice runner.

This is one of the last of the third generation Grand Prix and while the body didn’t change much from ’73 to ’77, there were plenty of mechanical changes. Most of the changes were to meet emission regulations and simply meant that horsepower was down. Thankfully, being an SJ meant that this car came with the higher output engine than a base model car, plus it has the sport suspension and Rallye gauge cluster.

Without having all the numbers, it’s hard to be sure if the engine is the original or not, but it looks to have been upgraded a little. That probably isn’t a bad thing though, as these engines were fairly strangled when new and a few extra ponies is definitely a good thing! Overall, it looks like a great find and a good deal. So, be sure to use the form below to message Yvonne with any questions or to make her an offer!

So long it’s hard to fit it in one picture ! Always loved these cars, good looks and decent power with an excellent ride. Many were used and abused, but this Gran Priix has been cared for very well. Nice find, and good luck to the new owner.

What happened to the a/c ? Seems it lost a little originality. Still a nice car , had a 77 firethorn red buckets, console . Miss that car .
