Exotic Roller: 1973 Lamborghini Espada

Despite being an exotic Italian supercar, this 1973 Lamborghini Espada has been picked clean of its most valuable parts and left to slumber as a dusty hulk in an Italian garage. It’s fitting that the Espada is in Italy, as the car is still revered enough here in the states that very few would ever end up this way; perhaps it seems old hat in its home country. Find the project-grade Espada here on eBay with bidding over $3K and no reserve.

The drivetrain is gone, along with the front suspension. The nose panel has also been stripped clean of headlights, grills, and bumper. The car retains its rear suspension, which is attached to its factory Campagnolo wheels (those are missing from the front, too), along with all electrical and fuel system components. What happened to this sad Espada that it was stripped?

The interior is a treat, as the wood-rimmed steering wheel appears to be in mint condition and the seats and door panels are still in excellent shape. Wood trim inlays appear surprisingly fresh, too. It’s clear that this Espada was not a total basketcase that needed to be put out of its misery; it actually looks like a reasonably complete car with the preferred manual gearbox.

The backseat and center console continue the theme of an Espada that was not left to die with a sun-baked interior and gutted dash panels. The seller provides no details on why the Espada ended up this way, especially given how desirable the manual transmission examples remain to this day. With no reserve and a clean interior, this Espada deserves to be restored.

I think the most interesting thing here is the fact that the “Little Pine Trees” have gone Internationale……..”Pino” scent…..LOL.

That “mint” steering wheel appears to be totally delaminated.

We were just talking about this, prefect car to make electric. No Motor, no trans, just a roller.

Watch the recently posted Harry’s Garage where his goes in for an engine out service. Really interesting so far. The checkbook will never be the same, but what does he care. 💰😂

Never thought that I would say this, but this is a clear LS + Tremec candidate – for now.

Do not recall seeing one ever. There must be a few made in US. I mean on top of that eternally fugly maroon one

There was a time you couldn’t give one of these away. Of course that’s back when a good Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2 was only $25,000 too!

Can understand how it came to this. Not many years ago prices for these were about the same as the Maserati four passenger cars, dirt. Got a ride in one when I was a kid. Was a bright green. You would be amazed at how low these are and how much room the back seats have.

I hope that someone brings it back to life. I can only imagine how much work it would take to take care of the front end.

Not quite sure “Roller” is the right term. “Barrow” maybe? Or ??
