Far Out Winnebago: 1974 Dodge Winnie Wagon

74-dodge-1

With an awesome appearance, and loads of room this ’74 Dodge Winnie wagon has all sorts of possibilities. This Dodge runs and drives, but needs some tlc. The $12,000 price tag is a little high in our opinion, but this Dodge was just to cool not to share. Find it here on craigslist out of Boston, Massachusetts.

We aren’t exactly sure what the original purpose was of this Winnie Wagon. Likely to have been a camper, it appears someone converted it to a mini party bus. The pictures aren’t the clearest, perhaps it still sports some of its original Winnie interior. The exterior is clearly the selling point, it’s just plain cool. wearing heavy metallic paint with smoke stacks, and mag wheels, we can come up with some creative ideas of what to do with this Dodge. According to the seller this Dodge has 80,000 original miles, although relatively low mileage, the 318 V8 engine has some leaks as well as the transmission. The seller also explains that the body itself may have some leak issues, but they did not elaborate any further.

So what could be done with this Dodge? Make it a camper again? Or perhaps make it a car hauler, and keep the spares inside of the Winnie? Or maybe it would make a cool tour guide type vehicle? Who knows, the mind spins with potential ideas for this cool looking Dodge. What would you do with this ’74 Dodge Winnie Wagon?

A nice looking 20 footer. To much money though. And replace the stacks with OEM exhaust!

I like the car hauler idea, hook your trailer to it and either store parts in side or sleep in it but the price is too steep for the work involved.

The interior isn’t useful for much as in. Probably not even legal as a party bus. You’re buying a shell, which may or not be clean. (After looking at the pics online, they show some issues with rust and fitment under the respray.) Especially since the engine and tranny are leaking fluids.

Someone will buy it, cool looking, make it what you want to. The roof is interesting. Cant make out what all the “bars” and “rails” are along the inside roof area?? Looks like something either opens up or folds down? Very interesting. Anybody know anything about these? Just curious.

If I had 12K I didn’t know what to do with I’d buy it. 2 kids in college with one to go, that is not going to happen! Good luck to the person who buys it, very cool.

Looks like it has (or had) a pop-up type of roof (check the interior pics). Return to use as a camper for NASCAR weekends and Power Tour. Failing that, use it as swap meet vehicle.

PDF brochure of the 1974 Winnie Wagon. Some had the popup roof, some had a solid roof. As for rarity, how many 1974 motorhomes does he see on the road at any time? With the mechanical issues, no original interior, leaks… $2K tops, if that.

I like the stacks but why did someone put those couches in and take out the rest of the interior?

Man if money was no object this would be painted to match my Magnum race car keeping the graphics. What a great tow rig/camper!

Old campers, including Westfalias, used to be worth zero but it seems people are trying to shirt-tail on the VW bus craze. This one looks like it’s bending between the cab and the body which does it no favors. From inside it appears to have pop top levers, but the roof pic looks like that it might have been replaced with a sheet of fiberglass. Could be a fun tailgater for 1500 bucks but that’s it.

It DOES look that way, the weird thing is that it isn’t sagging as you’d expect, but just the opposite!

I hadn’t looked at the ad to see the roof, looks like you are right on the money which is probably where the leak is located.

    Very cheap shiny repaint.

All utility is gone, and the leaks….
Replaced the popup top with plywood… :-p
No photos of the cockpit, or the underside.

    Real money being asked….
White elephant. Perhaps there is someone who wants that type of thing….

My guess is that interior is rather nasty…a black light bonanza!

OMG, $12K is OUTRAGEOUS for this thing. The owner has partied in the back wayyyy too many times, it seems.

I’ve got one with original interior package and upholstery. The pop top was replaced with hard bubble top.
My stepdaughter fell in love with it. She’s a Whitewater raft guide and wants to live in @ work.
