Field Of Dreams: 1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

This poor Camaro has been sitting in a field for 25 years. The floors are rotted. The body is crinkled. The engine is seized. And the previous owner is still looking for the title. Hmm, this is starting to sound like a pipe dream to me. There must be a few people who want it though as evidenced by the bidding here on eBay where the auction ends soon. Thanks goes to Patrick S for the tip!

Here’s a shot of the interior. Well, what’s left of it. The floors are rusted through, but that’s the least of your concerns. Everything has been exposed to the elements so plan on lots of pitting and corrosion. I’d say this could be used as a parts car, but I doubt there’s much here that wouldn’t need to be restored before being installed.

The seller mentions that the engine won’t turn over and I assume that means it’s seized up. I don’t see any evidence of them hooking up a battery and seeing it it really “turns over”. A V8 would be more exciting than an inline-six, but I suppose it wouldn’t be a big deal to transplant something else in there while you are refurbishing every single surface.

This just keeps getting better! The body looks like it’s been in a wreck or maybe it’s so badly rusted that the whole car has twisted? The seller does mention that “the body shifted” when they moved it… Wait a minute. None of that really matters if you buy a Dynacorn reproduction body! It’s hard to believe that a VIN tag and title could be worth more than a grand, but I’m guessing that’s what people are planning. What do you think? Is there a future for this field find?

Agreed! Looks like it buckled in half when they transported it from the field! Look at the driver door before and after the move.

Hood peeled back between photo shoots as well. Ain’t no way to treat a pile of Bowtie detritus.

Looks like you could compact it with a 2×4. Rusty flakes.

As they say a fool and his money are soon parted. The seller said that body shifted when they tried to move it, that a nice way of saying it folded in the middle and now the door won’t close. When a car reaches this point it should just be scrapped, if your going to build a dyncorn car they come with there own tag so why not just buy all the pc’s and just make a new car. What people won’t try to sell. I could not sell somthing like this in good conscience with out feeling like I’m ripping the buyer off at any price. The current owner was probably given the car just to get it out of the field. I know when your at a car show to have a numbers matching car gives you bragging rights but the general public walking by your car looking at it really don’t give a $h!t it’ll just be the odd die hard that cares. I’m in the camp of the don’t give a $h!t, as for resale it’s a 6 cylinder car and people looking for a pony cars want a v8 car, and there goes the numbers matching thing out the window. If it were here in Canada you could get about $40.00 for it in scrap weight value. JMHO.

CLEARLY, someone is buying a cowl tag, vin tag and bill of sale (possible title IF previous owner finds it=UNLIKELY) for $1,000+ dollars! Thing is, this is a 6 cylinder car as denoted in the third digit of the vin! So regardless what drivetrain you put in it, the “born as” a 6 cylinder will ALWAYS follow this car not matter how much money you throw at it!

If he can get the title and the body tags are intact, it would be a doable resto mod. But can you sell it for more than you have in it after you are done that is the question.

Looks like a daily driver to me with patina 🙃I head it was owned by Steve McQueenders 😅

Definitely a tag removal and a new body replacement with a v8 and salvage the dash etc and guages

Considering how bad this one is, you’d need to pay someone to take it away. Nothing left but s/n and cowl tag on it worth anything.

If someone gets this old rusted tattered up bow tie, I am sure that it would be for the challenge! There isn’t much there to love?
