Forgotten Survivor: 1930 Chevrolet Sedan

After this Chevrolet’s last parade, it was driven to its last resting place to sleep off a 50 year nap. Original, and extremely solid, this Chevrolet is a time capsule. Bidding has reached $3,350 with the reserve unmet, or there is also a “Buy It Now” price of $16,500. Find it here on ebay out of Queen Creek, Arizona.

50 years after being stored this beautiful Chevrolet is out in the sun yet again. With much of the factory paint remaining, this Chevy is still quite shiny. There is also some obvious surface rust on the passenger side engine cover, and on the passenger fender, and running board. The driver side shows little in the way of paint blemishes, or surface rust. We imagine with a good cleaning, this ’30 Chevrolet sedan will be a real beauty.

The overhead valve inline 6 engine is dusty, and dry, but we imagine after nearly a life time in storage that this engine could be revived. The honey comb radiator is nice as well.

Inside of this Chevrolet is a very original interior in very reasonable shape. The seats and door panels have survived the test of time, but the fabric is a little worn having been munched on by insects. All of the interior trim and hardware is present, and there is even a Christmas tree air freshener included with one!

Although not in running condition, this beautiful Chevrolet has a lot of potential to be a driver again, and we hope whoever picks this up takes very good care of it. What do you think should be the fate of this Chevrolet? Restore it, or maintain its original condition?

I’m a big fan of these old girls but they just don’t bring the money anymore. Most of the fans are slowly dying off and the baby boomers aren’t showing much interest. If she was running and driving 13,500 would be a stretch. Good luck!

Too bad for me it is 4 door and the 2 doors are really starting to creep up in price now.

One must assume the air freshener was hung recently to cope with mustiness. Otherwise I call bs on the 50 years of storage…. pretty cool but way overpriced.

Arizona car with a Nebraska plate?? I think there’s more to the story than he’s telling us.

If it was anything but a Chevy or a Ford I would be interested. Not running 4 door; $7500 Max and even that is generous!
I found a 1930 all original Packard sedan in great shape & running and the guy is asking $13k. That’s a no Brainer comparing to this car; double the cylinders, lower price, better condition.

Dropped BIN to $11875. Better. Still high. Nice find!

An old Chevy with a ‘for real’ Stovebolt six. Quite the find although I think the owner has wandered over to Scottsdale, to BJ’s Auction a few too many times. I could never justify a price (in my budget) like that for a car that isn’t running. Other than that, the first thing to do is get if running and evaluate from there. You might be able to touch the paint up but considering that the paint is 86 years old, it might best be resprayed. I wish the vendor and the new owner good luck….

This is the first vintage car I have seen that does not have louvres for the full length of the bonnet. Can anyone tell me if the number of louvres were reduced for colder climates?
