It is also one of the last of the chrome-bumper C3 Corvettes, which means that it ticks many the right boxes for Corvette enthusiasts. If all of that isn’t enough for you, then the fact that it is being offered for sale with No Reserve is probably the icing on the cake. If you can’t resist this classic (and who could blame you), then you will find it located in Boca Raton, Florida, and listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding sits at $17,600, and with No Reserve, someone is about to take home a beautiful classic.
The Corvette has recently been treated to a repaint in its original shade of Classic White. The owner chose to have plenty of clear applied over this, which will provide a couple of benefits. The first is that it should allow the car to maintain a long-term shine. The second is that any chips are likely to impact the clearcoat rather than the color, which should stop the vehicle from developing a shabby look in the future. It seems that the seller might be something of a perfectionist. Either that or he has made a sudden decision to part with this classic. Choosing to sell this car so soon after sinking a considerable amount of money into it is not a choice that I would like to make. The exterior chrome is all in good order, although there is a rust spot on the front bumper. A new replacement has been ordered, and this will be included in the sale. That is the only rust that the owner identifies, so it would seem that the frame and birdcage are structurally sound. The car rolls on a set of larger diameter Rally-style wheels. These are in good condition, but they do leave me torn. I don’t actually hate them, but I can’t say that I like them either. If I were to buy this Corvette, I would probably swap them out for a set of genuine Rally wheels. That’s a personal choice, and your view could be quite different from mine.
Below the surface, this Corvette is still home to its original 350ci V8 and 3-speed automatic transmission. The vehicle also comes equipped with power steering and power brakes. It isn’t clear which version of the 350 this is, but it still should easily be capable of a sub-16-second ¼ mile ET, which isn’t bad. There’s plenty of good news with this one because not only has it recently received a comprehensive service and a new Holley carburetor, but all of the suspension bushes have been replaced. The owner says that potential buyers won’t be disappointed because the car runs and drives perfectly.
Black vinyl is the material of choice when it comes to discussing the Corvette’s upholstery. This is in excellent condition, with only a few flaws. The owner identifies a wear hole in the driver’s door trim and suggests that it be replaced. There are some impressive reproduction trims available on the market today, and this is the path that I would probably follow. Replacing both trims would maintain color and grain consistency, and a pair will cost less than $500. The only other flaw that I can identify is some fading on the carpet. This is a shame because it does seem to be surprisingly free of significant wear. The next owner could attempt a dye job, but they could also opt for a new carpet set. These are easy to find for under $300, and when combined with the new door trims, they would have the interior looking spot on. An aftermarket CD player has been installed, which should help to make life pleasant on the road. However, there is one omission that surprises me, especially given that it appears that the Corvette has spent its life in Florida. I was expecting to find the car equipped with air conditioning, but it isn’t. The buyer might choose to address this, depending on where the Corvette finally ends up. This classic isn’t 100% original, so I wouldn’t have any qualms with that sort of aftermarket addition.
I could sit here and tell you how popular and desirable the chrome-bumper C3 Corvettes are, but the bidding history on this one tells the story perfectly. It opened at $1,000, and 44 bids later, it has reached $17,600. It seems that there is no shortage of enthusiasm for this classic, and I can understand that. Someone is about to lay their hands on a car that is likely to keep appreciating with each passing year. That makes it potentially as profitable as playing the Stock Market, but a whole lot more fun!
The removable rear window was NOT an option, it was standard. Looks like a base engine with an aftermarket manifold to me. If it was a LT-1 it would have had the hood.

Agree 100% on the wheels. First thing I noticed. Other than that, looks like a good car.
It’s pretty clear that it’s a base L-48 350 in this car. It has an automatic, the LT-1 was only available with a 4 speed. It doesn’t look like a bad car, as long as the price doesn’t climb to much higher. But if it was mine, I’d have to lose those rims. To me, the stock 15×8 rallys look a lot better on these cars, than those 16 (or 17?) inchers.

The larger diameter wheels are ok, the issue is that they aren’t wide enough. Corvettes need some dish int he wheels. So instead of what appears to be 7″, an 8″ width like stock or even a 9″. The huge wheel, super-low profile rubber just doesn’t work on these. I sold my red ’72 L-48 4sp. A/C, PW. Tilt-tele leather car for $17K. With ported heads, cam, Hookers etc..it ran strong and was a lot of fun.

Nice car,but I learned many years ago that people hide body issues with a re-paint.Just sayin.Being fiberglass & all I would really have to look at it before I would bid.I know the 60s series vettes were notorious for bad paint.But it’s a nice car & hope it gets a good home
