Going Cheap: No Reserve 1968 Volvo 1800S

The same seller that has listed several rough British classics and a seemingly complete Alfa Romeo GTV6 at no reserve has one more barn find to unveil, that being a very rough Volvo 1800S coupe. This one is also listed with no reserve and a paltry opening bid, but unlike the Alfa, it may be close to its actual value at the moment. The body is rough, the interior is trashed, and the front and rear glass is smashed. Find it here on eBay with bidding at $10.50.

You can see the aforementioned Alfa Romeo in the top photo and the forlorn British projects in the background here. Whoever left this collection to rot certainly had the right instincts for collecting the era’s most sporting cars, but obviously didn’t have the means or the time to put them all back together. It’s impressive the Alfa Romeo survived as well as it did.

The interior doesn’t offer much good news, and the broken windscreens certainly didn’t help keep dampness and critters out. The seats look like they suffered for an extended period in the sun, but at least someone thought to throw the eggcrate grill inside. The steering wheel is also missing, and the dash is pretty much destroyed.

It’s hard to assess just how rough these cars were when they came into this collection versus how much they deteriorated once in storage. Regardless, they are all decent parts donors for owners of more worthy projects, but if you won this Volvo for $200, would you pay to transport it? I wouldn’t; then again, the barn find Alfa Romeo GTV6 is at $4K at the moment.

I$10.50 is probably about 10 bucks too high for this pile of crap. It has obviously been stripped of any usable parts, and the unibody is so far gone that nobody would be dumb enough to attempt a restoration. This car isn’t even worth the time spent writing it up on BF. Diss-missed!!

The Volvo will make a few nice new LG refrigerators.

I’d bet $10.50 that you’d tear it in two pieces just trying to winch it on the trailer.

At $10.50 I thought it was worth it for parts if the buyer was local and could haul it themselves. It’s now over $500. Either I’m missing something or auction fever strikes again. I bet the seller is very happy.

Bidding is now at $517. I guess if you are looking for some of the parts and are local (like the side glass which looks good) it’s worth it. but 42 bids??

I have all kids of window glass for the 1800 cars, at 20 bucks a pop.

Trust me, I have owned a dozen of these cars and parted out 8 or 9 of them, and there ain’t a hundred bucks in usable parts on this thing. Next!

I don’t think even Roger Moore could save this one on a good day and this isn’t a good day.

Laughable. Location: a wet field in Michigan. If you dig into the sellers other items you’ll see that despite every rotten POS in the photos he has one or two actual nice cars for sale at hefty prices.

leiniedude –the MGs….all of them including two MGA…are part of the en masse listing on eBay. We are supposed to decide which plate full of iron oxide we wish to waste our money on. And….still no photos of the Peugeot that is given a mention in the listing.
