HEMIs and More: Old Car Projects for Sale

This listing on the Los Angeles craigslist appears to show a varied collection of American muscle and luxury cars spread across a desert-like parking lot, and includes classics like this 1956 Chrysler New Yorker project powered by a 354 Hemi engine. That example has a bad water pump and is listed with an asking price of $4,500; find the rest of the collection here on craigslist with many projects that seem to benefit from dry, straight West Coast sheetmetal.

Some of the vehicles are ordinary, textbook versions of land yachts and motor pool sedans; others are slightly more interesting, including this 1964 Dodge Dart wagon for $1,650. The seller notes its an original six-cylinder car without much rust to report, but that it will still need a new engine to pair with the automatic transmission. Hellcat swap, anyone?

This is one of my personal favorites from the collection, which seems pretty heavy on old Mopar metal. This one is another New Yorker, this time a 1968 two-door hardtop model. The seller notes it comes with a 440 V8 but will need a transmission; it’s also an A/C car with a split bench seat. The asking price for this gorgeous cruiser is just $1,850.

There’s a few other Internationals, Studebakers, Dodge trucks, a Plymouth Satellite police car movie prop, and even a 1973 Chevy Chevelle sedan military staff car. And then there’s my personal favorite, 1973 Sleekcraft jet boat, powered by a 455 Oldsmobile. It even comes with a trailer, and would likely hook up nicely to that 1958 Dodge 1/2 ton Stepside pickup.

The Dart Wagon looks to be best deal if rear window closes. Make a nice small block Mopar Rod.

I like the 1960 Dodge Dart Phoenix 4dr sedan. It looks to be in pretty good condition, at least what from can be seen. The price seems pretty cheap for a project car assuming the 318 can be revived and the interior isn’t trashed. That would make for a fun daily driver.

The 2 door Plymouth wagon is correctly listed as a Suburban. Very rare. 2000 miles from me.
