Highly Optioned: 1964 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe

The original owner of this 1964 Chevrolet Corvette lived many people’s dreams. He walked into his local Chevrolet dealership and ordered this classic with some of the most desirable optional extras. That is something that not everybody gets to do, and we will have readers that will envy him when they read the list of items he chose. It presents superbly and has no apparent needs beyond requiring a new home. It would seem to suit the most meticulous buyer and is guaranteed to turn heads wherever it goes. Located in Lynnwood, Washington, you will find a Corvette listed for sale here on eBay. Subdued bidding has seen the price reach $35,100, but this is short of the reserve. The owner offers a BIN that he has set at $75,950.

The history of this Corvette is unclear, but since the owner talks about the potential for NCRS Certification, that suggests that it is an original survivor. Its Ermine White paint shines nicely and is consistent across the entire car. There is no evidence of significant paint flaws, while the fiberglass also looks reassuringly free from cracks and webbing. The underside shots show that some of the original undercoat has chipped away, and light spots of surface corrosion have begun to develop in these areas. Otherwise, the car shows no evidence of structural rust or any significant problems. The chrome is in good condition, as is the glass. The car rolls on a set of factory aluminum knock-off wheels, which were not cheap when this car was new. They added an eye-watering $322.80 to the sticker price of a Corvette, so it is easy to see why only 806 buyers selected them. Those wheels rate as the tip of the iceberg for optional extras with this Corvette.

Tilting forward the hood on this Corvette brings us to the next area where the original owner was willing to splash some cash. The engine bay is occupied by its numbers-matching L76 version of the 327ci V8. This little gem produces 365hp, which gets to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. There was no genuinely slow version of the Corvette in this model year, but this one should storm the ¼ mile in 14.1 seconds. The L76 was the second most potent motor that Chevrolet offered in that model year. Buyers could select a “Fuelie” V8, but this only brought an additional 10hp to the table. While the L76 added $107.60 to the Corvette’s price, the extra 10hp afforded by the Fuelie cost $538. It’s easy to see why 7,171 buyers selected the L76, but a mere 1,325 chose the Fuelie option. From a bang-for-your-bucks perspective, the L76 was a clear winner. Examining the engine bay reveals that everything is as it should be. The correct shielding is intact, as is the deep pulley alternator. The owner claims that this Corvette has 62,488 original miles on the clock, and while he doesn’t state how well the vehicle runs and drives, the overall appearance gives us some cause for optimism.

So, it’s now time to think about this Corvette’s interior. It makes a stunning statement, with the seats upholstered in Red leather. There is no evidence of wear or physical damage on any upholstered surfaces, while the carpet looks flawless. Once again, it is impossible to determine whether this interior is original or if somebody has treated it to some restoration work. If it is untouched, its condition rates as pretty astounding. The dash is immaculate, as is the wheel. The original owner selected factory air conditioning for this gem, along with power windows and an AM/FM radio. The seller indicates that everything works as it should, suggesting that this classic is ready to hit the road for some satisfying motoring action.

There’s little question that the original owner of this 1964 Corvette Coupe lived the dreams of many passionate enthusiasts. To walk into a dealership and be able to order a desirable vehicle like this loaded with such fantastic options would be a rare treat. His actions then will benefit a new owner now. C2 Corvettes remain one of the most highly sought vehicles in today’s classic market, but the options fitted to this car lift it to a higher level. It could potentially represent a rock-solid long-term investment, and if so, would be far more entertaining than any Shares Certificate. Is that enough to tempt you to follow this one further?

Josh, did you marry your mommy or what? If you want it, go get it….you don’t need permission any more….it’s a car you’d never lose money on because they only go up more each year.

Josh I’m a firm believer it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Go for it.

Corvette value is really predicated on originality and low mileage. This one has a lot going for the collectors who just want to stare at their perfection. It’s a very good example.

I love the classic white/red color combo. And neat 365hp with factory air. The knock-off wheels appear to be reproduction. The author states the interior is optional leather seating but trim tag seems to show vinyl. But overall, a desirable ‘64 coupe.

Good catch on the trim tag seating. As you say a desirable ’64 coupe. My dream Vette is a split window. I’ve got to buy lots and lots of lottery tickets though, lol. (I built a model back in the sixties and painted it black.)

Some folks prefer the 1965 for the standard disc brakes.

Great looking Vette! You can’t beat a white, red or black exterior with red interior.

A/C with the 365 hp engine is not a good match. Also a convertible would be worth more as that option is worth more on almost all cars save the 63 Corvette.

As John S pointed out, this car has red vinyl, not leather, or at least it originally left St Louis that way.

I don’t know that I’d call this car “highly optioned”. It does have the 365 and AC, but the power windows are not original to the car. 490 is red vinyl, but the AA ECL code attached to the 490 indicates a car built without automatic or power windows. If the power windows have been added, you have to wonder if the AC was added too????? I doubt the knock offs are original, and 64’s were only available with blackwall’s or whitewalls, not gold lines. Bid accordingly!

It is a pretty car, and while I’m not a big fan of white Corvettes, if it has to be white, the only way to go is with a bright red interior.

no twin snorkel breather, what is the rear end ratio, what is the amperage of the alternator. At that mileage what has been replace or rebuilt. Is it a california car or one carrying a mild load of salt? When was the last time the wheel bearing were greased? Is all the glass tinted and dated? No frame off? Head light and window motors rebuilt?

It has the correct air cleaner. The twin snorkel was on the 250hp and I believe the 300hp as well.
