Highly Optioned: 1973 Dodge Charger SE

The original owner of this 1973 Dodge Charger SE took a bit of time looking over the options list when ordering this car, and the result is a vehicle that has a nice combination of options and equipment. The current owner has undertaken a fair amount of work on the car in recent times, and it will be up to the next owner to add the finishing touches to the vehicle. The Charger is located in Ventura, California, and is listed for sale here on eBay. Bidding has now reached $8,600, and with the reserve having been met, this is a car that is set to head off to a new home.

While the Charger is currently finished in Sublime Green, it has undergone a color change at some point in its life. It originally rolled off the line wearing Alpine White, while the vinyl top would have been white, rather than the black one that is currently fitted to the car. The general external condition of the car looks to be quite good, with no obvious signs of any rust issues. The owner refers to the car as a rust-free example, so that gives us cause to be optimistic about the state of the underside of the vehicle. In reality, the only thing that detracts from the external appearance of the vehicle is the condition of the wheels. If they were restored, then this would be a nice looking car.

The first indication that we get of the owner’s recent spending spree on the Charger is when we look inside the vehicle. It has recently been treated to a freshly restored interior, and what we can see looks really good. It appears that new covers have been fitted to the seats, while the door trims also appear to be new. This is also the moment where we see that the original owner enjoyed themselves with a pen and the options sheet when ordering the Charger. It comes with a factory sunroof, air conditioning, power windows, bucket seats, center console, and factory radio.

The owner has spent more money under the hood of the Charger, and it is the buyer who will reap the benefits. It isn’t clear whether the engine is the original 400ci V8, but this one has been recently rebuilt. Backing the 400 is a rebuilt 3-speed TorqueFlite transmission, while the Charger also features power brakes. The Charger has just been fitted with new tires and is said to run and drive well. The owner also provides a couple of photos of a reasonable stash of spare parts and pieces which will be included with the car.

This 1973 Charger SE is an attractive car that looks like it will need very little to make it sparkle. It appears to be the sort of car that could be driven and enjoyed while the weather remains fine, and any detail items could be addressed over the upcoming Winter months. Bidding on the Charger has been fairly strong, and when you look at what you would be getting for your money, it is easy to see why.

The left quarter panel has needed attention for sure.

Looks like a fun driver, nice hopped up 400 won’t disappoint.
Never liked the”louvered” side windows on these Chargers although the rest of the design isn’t at all bad. I actually don’t know the proper term for the windows.

I think they were referred to as opera windows. Different for sure, but they are there. I think they are just fiberglass plugs over full fixed glass and could be removed. Hardtops (no vinyl) had regular glass windows.

One of my pet peeves…Mopars painted in these high impact ‘69-71 colors that weren’t built then. If this was still the white on white combo it was built in, it’d be pretty classy.

I agree 100% !!!!!!!!!!!! It always irks me when I see something like a 74 Satellite Sebring with a 318 painted Plum Crazy and then listed as a “muscle car”

Not every car had an original owner checking off options ; many cars were ordered by the dealerships with different options to attract customers. Most new car buyers buy off the lot, only a few owners special order cars unless they are looking for something no dealership has

I think they were called Opera Windows. We always called them shark gills. I am like you. I don’t like the opera windows either. I had 71 SE with them and they really cut down on what you can see. Without the opera windows we referred to them as Nike Swoosh windows.
