Honey Look What I Brought Home… A Dragster!

00606_fNnEvgeA4w2_600x450

Well this is an interesting find! Apparently the seller traded something for this Dragster, only to get it home and then realize they really don’t need it. I don’t need a dragster any more than I need another hole in my head, but that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t mind having one (a dragster, not another hole in my head)! Listed here on craigslist and now parked in Pittsburg, Kansas this dragster is priced at $4,500 as pictured off the trailer without an engine. I’m really not sure how you drag something like this home and decide you don’t need it, I’m guessing it’s more likely a significant other decided they didn’t want it sitting in the yard! Well whatever the story is, they don’t need it, but do you?

If you wish to have the complete dragster with the engine/trans the price is $7K. The owner does not include an image of it all setup with the engine. It is a small block Chevy 355 V8 with a 400 turbo transmission. They claim it use to run at the Mo-Kan Dragway and was pulling mid 10 second quarter miles.

It comes with all the panels, electronics, full floater rear end and is ready for an engine to be reinstalled. The owner says, “this baby needs to come back to life….Take it home today…..”. While we full heartedly agree, if you do take it home, make sure to have all you ducks in order! We would hate to see it get left outside rather than be at the track!

Cheers,

Robert

It would be a novelty item but as stated my wife would think I was nuts and make get rid of it or she would have me committed.

My guess is this was payment for a debt because the debtor did not have any money so this seller is just trying to recoup some money.

it is rear engined and looks good in the photos. it would still need a PI by someone who knows these and the rulebooks it would race under. then you would know the cost to get it race ready and be competitive your class. great find

I am not a drag racing aficianado, but isn’t 10 and even 8 second 1/4 miles slow for something like this

If you read the craigslist ad the 355 was apparently out of a Malibu that ran mid 10’s. I’m kinda curious why the calipers were removed..
