Just Add Money: 1956 Chevy Nomad

front

This Nomad listed here on craigslist in Orlando, Florida will be somebody’s treasure simply because it is a Nomad, no matter what it costs to restore. It’s said to be all original except the engine, which isn’t there, but I also notice the lack of a front bumper. The seller is asking for offers. I suppose it’s one way to get the biggest pile of money possible.

right

The trim appears to be mostly there. Add a pile of money and this will no doubt be someone’s dream ride after a custom chassis, lots of new body panels, many coats of custom paint and a modern engine. Hopefully, it will still look like a nomad! So would you restore it to original or go a more custom route?

Here’s a suggestion: whenever BF presents a car when the seller is asking for offers, everyone can send him a ton of lowball offers. That might help to dim the Barrett Jackson lights in his eyes and help lower him to terra firma.

    Here’s what I sent:
That ship is gonna take a ton of work, I can pay you $50

Since its still on the trailer, can you deliver it for free?? I’m in California

    Thanks!

Love it. I would at least go scrap iron price. That should be around $400 here.

        He replied, “speak English”

I told him “if he wanted an auction, put it on eBay. You’re on Craigslist, put a price on it!”

Wait…half Porsches go for huge money, and you guys are thinking that this guy is out of line for taking offers?

That’s what an ebay auction is…people putting in ever-rising offers on something.
And compared to the POS P-cars that P-eople plop down piles of pennies on every day, this Nomad seems decent and desirable.

Ebay is a great place for a seller to sell something that everyone is looking for, because the buyers come out of the woodwork and drive the price up, benefitting the seller. But there are fees to the seller. Craigslist is a nice free classified site, but works best locally. Kudos to this guy for working CL like it’s ebay, and dispensing with “fee-bay’s” fees. I have no beef with this guy’s listing.

Anyone have any thought’s on who manufactured the wheel’s? Restored, they would be really cool on the right car.

I was thinking the same thing. The wheels might be worth more than the car at this point.
