Kiwi 1972 Land Rover Series III Pickup

1972 Land Rover Series Iii

This 1972 Land Rover Series III Pickup comes to us from the land down under. Well, almost. It is located in New Zealand, but the seller is offering free shipping to selected ports in the US and is only asking $4,350. The truck looks to be in great shape and would make a fun daily driver. Snatch up this bargain here on eBay before it’s gone.

The seller claims that they use this truck daily and that it has always been garaged. They have also replaced many parts and state that there is no rust. It does look well maintained and if the seller’s description is accurate than this is a great deal. You will just want to make sure you can get it licensed before having it sent over. We think it will not be a problem because it is an older vehicle.

1972 Land Rover Series Iii Engine

The Series III came with a 2.25 liter four cylinder and four speed manual transmission. Nothing fancy but they were robust and got the job done. This engine looks well used and it should with 143k miles. We would drive it until this engine gave up and swap it out for for a rebuilt unit or something else. Any recommendations?

These trucks are so simple and rugged. It is going to be rough riding and will not go very fast, but it will be a blast to take up to the mountains when you go camping. Remember that this truck has the steering wheel on the “right” side.

1972 Land Rover Series Iii Front

We wanted to call it a kangaroo bar, but that might be more appropriate if it was actually from Australia. We would be tempted to remove that bull bar and install something a little more subtle or even a stock bumper. Stick the spare on the hood and do nothing else to make this a great weekend or work truck. The mustard color is even starting to grow on us and is not a color you see very often. Let us know if someone here picks this one up. Can anyone name that car in the background?

Pretty sure it’s some type of Daimler in the background.

Does this seem too good to be true to anybody else?A good price, plus free shipping to U.S. ports.I looked up his Ebay rating. The latest positive feedback, seems to be from somebody that only buys, never sells, wireless key remotes. Is this suspicious to anybody else?

If you look further into his feedback you’ll see he’s sold several vehicles, all with free shipping.

i purchased this rover series iii in august and just got it home from the docks in balt. md. today. does anyone have info on interchangeable drivetrains, owners manuels online, etc.? help? {ps. dont buy anything off of this N.Z. seller for he placed older pictures of this ride in his recent sales ad. he led you to believe you were bidding on what he got when he purchaced it. not what it is after he tortured it.

That sucks. Although it would have been prudent to ask if the photos were current, especially for such a long distance purchase
