Last Year For The B: 1953 Dodge B-Series Pickup

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and just about each and every one of us can find something that we appreciate about an automobile. There are many aspects to consider and appreciate, but one thing I really like is a vehicle that has character, cue this 1953 Dodge B100 pickup. With a face that could tell a million stories, this Dodge appears solid and complete. This charming pickup is offered for the buy it now price of $9,950. Take a look at it here on ebay out of Fredericksburg, Texas. Thanks to reader Matt Williams for this charming submission!

Under the engine covers is a flathead inline 6 engine that looks to be in fair shape, and perhaps even in running condition. The ebay listing has little information, but I would hope that for the $10,000 price tag that this Dodge could be driven. I would say that a new water pump has been fitted, as well as some fresh tune up parts as well. The wiring isn’t the prettiest, but if it is in working order, it could certainly be cleaned up at a later date. There is a tremendous amount of original paint on the fire wall with very little surface rust to be seen. All of this makes better sense once you remember that this is a Texas truck.

The interior is charming as well with its well preserved looks and simplicity. The bench seat has been reupholstered, but beyond that the interior appears quite original and untouched minus a cigarette lighter that has been attached under the dash. A bit silly, the cigarette lighter accessory could be removed, but certainly could be useful with charging your phone or GPS.

With a lot of surface rust and what appears to be bare metal, I can’t decide if someone stripped this truck to yield a “patina” look, or if the Texas sun simply burned the paint off after many years. There are various dents and dings to be found especially on the face of this old truck. Thankfully there is little rot to be found on this truck, and the glass looks to be in nice shape with no cracks or delamination. What appears to be the original wooden bed is still in place, but the wood is very weathered and bleached out from the sun. All in all this is a charming classic with great style, and plenty of character. Are you a fan of this last year Dodge B- series pickup?

With the first picture; all I can hear is the theme song from Sanford + Son (Yeah; I know Fred and Lamont drove a different model…) Price seems steep to me… But a neat find nonetheless.

I’d guess by the looks of those fotos this thing runs just fine and the seller is going for that “P word” look.

I like these old pilothouse trucks, especially the ones with the round rear fenders. I’m a little surprised at what the vendor wants. However, if he can get it, more power to him; it’s a lot easier to come down in price than to go up. Just the same, it’s out of my budget, but then, if it graced my shop it would get the whole business, so the starting point would have to be considerably lower.

From the front it looks like someone is driving it through desert heat waves.

You do know there are still quite a few people who still use a cigarette lighter for it’s intended purpose. Just throwing in a little fact, nice old Dodge.

That would be about 5 times what it’s worth.

It’s more like beauty is in the eyes of the beerholder.

This is total artifice. Dealer is capitalizing on the inexplicable attraction of some to artificially created age.Looks like it has been either coated in WD 40 or some sort of coating to preserve the created p……. Aarghhhhh. I feel better now.

Working on one that runs and except for the front fenders is in good shape with no dents and very little rust. Owned by a bakery in its past life is why. Same year but with a short box. The asking price seems really high unless I got one heck of a deal!

It’s a fine truck, but like others here, I think it’s too pricey. Guy a few streets over had a splendid ’52 Dodge (dark-green cab, black bed) that he sold for about half the asking price of this machine. And the buyer drove it away.

I’m more a fan of the 3100 Chevys, but I’ll slow down to admire an old beast like this.
