Low Mileage 1969 Dodge Charger Survivor

1969 Dodge Charger

While it might not look it, this 1969 Dodge Charger has been sitting for over 34 years. Even the seller is a bit surprised at its condition. Even so, the price does seem to reflect that unique condition. It has a current bid price of $20,000 with a buy-it-now of $36,000 and a reserve. The car resides in Franklin, Tennessee and has a clear title with 41,446 possible original miles on the odometer. You can take a closer look at it here on eBay.

The listing states that the car is a true numbers matching, 383 cubic inch V8, H code car, with 335 horsepower, air conditioning, cruise control, and power steering. It has a 727 TorqueFlite automatic transmission. Looking through the photos, the engine is aged, but the seller says that it does start with fuel fed manually to the engine. The front brakes have original drums and the rear will need to be redone.

Inside, you can see a torn driver’s seat. The seller does say though that all the doors and open and close as they should and that the floors, fenders, and doors are all rust free and solid. They also say that it has all the original glass and moldings. The trim and all the previously described elements are also in good shape, as stated by the seller.

1969 Dodge Charger

As with many cars, this one was intended to be made roadworthy, but as things go they were sidetracked by other things. At the price you would pay for this car, hopefully, you would want to make it road worthy, and drive it as it deserves. It is not often you see one of these in this condition that still has enough potential to make it unique, but still, hold true to all the originality these cars hold.

As sick as I am of seeing high priced Chargers, this one made me say Wow! Seems like these are either done up to the nines or dragged out of the ocean. To see one in this kind of original condition is special.

Being one of the top 5 Best American Designs of all time I find it hard to believe that the buyer would lose money, given enough time and a sympathetic restoration.

Make it Road Worthy and proudly drive it as is!!! (Well, fix the seats anyway). Personally, this is what I fondly imagine when someone says “Hey! I found this nice old (fill in the blank) in a garage-isn’t that cool?”
Having found a few of those when I was younger (‘66 Chevy II 33k miles in ‘84, ‘67[?] Cougar XR 7 59k miles in ‘88, Porsche Abarth Unk miles in ‘89) it’s always great to see a well-kept and interesting machine discovered again..
Especially when one can’t take the opportunity to grab it up.
Very nice, seems to be a very reasonable price in today’s market!

Reminds me of the Dukes of Hazzard episode where I believe it was Cale Yarborough guest starring and he drove a car identical to this. Now I have to look it up 😁

Hard to tell, but it looks like its got the original magnum 500 wheels in the picture on the trailer. I had the same setup sans air conditioning in high school. Got the car in non-running condition from my uncle who bought it new. Black on black. I miss that car. May have to call on this one. . .

It looks like its missing the little Chrysler emblem on the passenger door, which likely means its been repainted. Alot of mods for a 40k mile car. . .

I think your emblem should be on the fender and not the door. There is something on the fender in that spot, but maybe just a hole.

Correct. The Pentastar goes on the lower right fender, rear of the wheel well.

So over priced I would not waste the 15 minute drive

That’s crazy! 42,000 miles on a 50 yr old car. This car had to have either been pampered, or hasn’t been driven very hard throughout its 50 yr existence. That’s impressive! Given its condition, and its originality, I’d pay close to the $20,000 bid price. I’d also want to make sure everything works the way it should.

Seems like the best deal on here for a Charger in a while!! All the parts are there it hasn’t been molested, the body doesn’t look like Swiss Cheese!! If I didn’t have so many other projects I’d put a bid in on this one!! Not a rare car but it’s rare to see a half way decent price on a ride like this!!!

“Doors open and close as they should….” Truly is there a dumber way to describe anything in this man’s world? Bill breathes just as he should…..Denise put her socks on just as she should……..clock goes clockwise as it should…key turns as it should, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on,……………….gack…………

Curbers make me want to puke.

I owned a 69 that if you jacked it up by one side wheel you couldn’t open the doors. It also had a tear in the body metal just behind the driver’s side door. Not good for structural integrity!

The hi-perf big block Mopars had a high pressure fuel pump which would wear the pump lobe off the camshaft. Rather than change the cam, we’d just mount an electric pump in the trunk and pump right through it.

PS: It would take more than 40,000 miles for this to happen though?

At first, I was impressed with a really good looking car… Then, I saw the rest of the pics. (Shudder). Front looks great. Seats, need reupholstered, undercarriage looks like it spent a lot of time on salt roads, back end doesn’t look so good and the engine bay needs a lot of work. “But, it’s a money-maker, Honey!”
