Luxurious Project: 1963 Cadillac Coupe Deville

63-deville-1

Perhaps not the year of your dream Cadillac, this 1963 Coupe Deville is complete, and make for a great project. The exterior and interior are fair and this Deville sports dual glass packs! Low and slow with a little bit of noise would make this a fun cruiser. Ad paint of your choice or leave as is with its current patina. This Caddy is bid up to a mere $2,113 with a little more than a day left for the auction to run. Find it here on ebay out of Lincoln, Nebraska.

The engine compartment looks quite stock and not too shabby. It would appear the current owner did a tune up on the 390 V8 engine trying to bypass the issue of a dead cylinder. The seller thinks it’s a valve issue, but if this dead cylinder has gone undiagnosed for a long time, then there is a solid chance that cylinder is in need of rings, valve replacement, and lapping. Though the seller has mentioned this Deville runs, and can be driven onto a trailer.

The interior on this Deville is pretty nice. The carpet still looks rather plush and the seats aren’t too bad off either. The rear seats have fallen victim of dry rot, and have a bit of an exploded look, but they could be dealt with. The dash board looks grand with no apparent damage whatsoever. The inside looks to need very little for this Cadillac to be a driver. The Body looks fairly solid, although there is some rust. There is a little rot in the bottoms of the front fenders, and there looks to be a little behind the rear wheel arches. There is also evidence of rust in the rockers, but it does not appear to be full on rot just yet. The seller has mentioned that the passenger floor is “soft” which is something that likely needs immediate attention. There is obviously some surface rust on the hood, roof and trunk. None of which looks to be anything serious.

Once the floor was examined and repaired, the rest of the rust on this Deville isn’t as critical. This Caddy would be a great restoration, or it would make a great driver project, that could be “rat rodded” as the seller has mentioned. Would you pick up this ’63 Deville?

The new bluesmobile looks great, I would make it a driver right away.

Ditch those horrible exhaust pipes, and get her back to looking her factory best again.
Not enough doors for me, tho
