Luxury Truck: 1966 Lincoln Ranchero

1966 Lincoln Ranchero

I’ve come across a few Cadillacs that have undergone the surgery to become a truck, but this is the first Lincoln I’ve ever seen sporting a bed. I’m not sure if it should be considered a Contichero or a Ranchinental, but one thing is certain – it’s unique! This luxury truck is obviously someone’s vision of the luxury truck that Ford should have built. They took a Lincoln Continental and paired it with a Ford Ranchero. No mention is made of who did the conversion. Some coachbuilders were known to try crazy things like this, but I’m guessing that it’s a home brew. Take a look at the craigslist ad here and let us know what you think. It’s located in Kansas City and the seller is asking $15k. So, if for nothing else, it was good for a laugh. Thanks goes to Hurray for the submission!

It looks like it was a flower car for a funeral home. There are many made from Cadillacs still in use around Chicago.

A guy I went to high school with had one of these made from a ’68 Continental. His dad made it for him, and it looked a lot slicker than this car.
The only thing I didn’t like were the glasspack mufflers down the sides. Wish I’d thought to take photos back then.

Are you sure we are not looking at a funeral flower car conversion?

My first thought was a flower car also. I believe that’s what it is based on the design of the bed.

I believe Chris & Art are right.I have been following ” Professional Cars” aka Ambulances,Hearses, Limo’s & Flower Cars(My Favorite) for years. This has the makings of a Flower Car written all over it.

There was a Edsel Ranchero roaming the area I live in a few years back. Made me think of Johnny Cash’s Cadillac.

Someone will buy it, just not at his price. Maybe $7500 to 8K just to be different.

The front looks good but the styling falls down in the back. With the raised bed in the back it could very well have been a flower car originally. If so, it would have been manufactured by a professional funeral car company such as superior,

I’d like to see this in person. Most speciality builders attached a plate somewhere to identify their work. I like it myself, but the asking price is about double what is realistic.

The bed looks early 1980’s Ranchero married to the Continental body. It could be a flower car conversion but it seems to me the bed would be of the same vintage of the “cab”. I’m guessing this was privately done.

Ford stopped making Rancheros in 79, and that bed dose not look like any year Ranchero my vote is for flower car. The 33k on the mileage would go hand in hand with that.

just plain ugly, and once again B/S on miles, seller says only 33k original miles, seller will never get 15k, maybe 5K if someone wants to part with their hard earned cash.

Yes it is odd, I think when Hines built it, they where originally contracted to build a hurse. They would have needed two cars to build it, and especially need the extra roofing material to raise it to accommodate a casket. What do you do with extra parts? Build a truck, I’d say it’s worth 2k tops! RATROD!
