This 1927 Dodge sedan caught my eye due to its unusual and striking color scheme. The car is located in East Canton, Ohio and is for sale here on eBay and here on Top Classics, although the eBay starting bid is lower. The seller’s father purchased the car in 1995 and apparently enjoyed it in local parades (there’s a picture later in this post). The car has evidently stood for a while and needed some assistance to run, and based on the description probably still has some bad gas in the tank. The seller asserts no rust, and while the interior panels look a little tired (and oversprayed with green), it looks like some work has been done preparing new panels. There’s even a set of vintage luggage that goes with it. This seems like a lot of car for the asking price of either $8,500 or $9,500, depending on which ad you read. What do you think?
I don’t know if I’ve seen a car from the ’20’s with this garish of a paint job. And whoever painted this car knew next to nothing about masking prior to painting. Unbelievable overspray! I think this Dodge is over-priced by a few thousand. What they are asking is for a well sorted car that runs well. They will figure that out pretty fast, I hope, and make a price correction when it doesn’t sell.
Indeed. He’s well into #3 money for a #4 car. Amateur restorations this bad often don’t save the car for the long term. They can be the death knell as the car is now so unattractive, a potentially good caretaker has little interest and someone who might be looking for a restoration project will pass on this handiwork for something less fooled around with.
Nice looking Dodge. It looks like the inner door panels and the headliner should be replaced, but I cannot see any major work. Looks like a Buy.
