Mopar Twins: Pair of 1966 Dodge Chargers

Finding one classic American muscle car in seemingly decent and dry condition with a good title and complete drivetrain is a major score; finding two in that sort of condition is almost unheard of. The seller of a pair of 1966 Dodge Chargers appears to have stumbled upon a compelling one-two punch of forgotten muscle cars, as both projects look to be excellent starting points. They are V8 cars with automatics and center consoles, and available separately or as a pair. Find the Chargers here on craigslist with a price of $13,500.

Thanks to Barn Finds reader T.J. for the find. The asking price likely is for one of the two Chargers, and the seller seems justified in asking this given these two hidden headlight muscle machines appear to have been hiding somewhere high and dry. Sure, the interiors are likely completely baked away, but not having to deal with rust repair makes a upholstery job seem like a walk in the park. And just look at how straight those body panels still are!

The rear section on the car that still has some paint left is pretty darn near impeccable too, especially for an unrestored example. The seller confirms that while some of the trim is missing, the Chargers will come with all trim and chrome, as well as their original wheels. It seems pretty likely with that admission that the Chargers were intended as a restoration project and perhaps stored with some intentions of coming back to them someday. Even better news? They will both run, even though they are not running at the moment.

This generation of Charger always reminds me of the classic chase scene from Bullitt, wherein Steve McQueen went head-to-head with a pair of hoodlums in a Charger not entirely unlike the ones we see here. To find a classic Charger that is in project-grade condition but hasn’t been ravaged by rust or torn apart in a halfway-done restoration attempt is truly a compelling find, and while there’s plenty of work to be done, either one of these V8-powered Chargers looks like a deserving restoration candidate. Which one would you take home?

    Surprised they haven’t sold already.
I don’t think that I’ve ever seen anyone
use tie downs like that before.

It could either have shot shocks, or no shocks at all, which would make them very bouncy.

So in lieu of bouncing one gets dents

Tie the frame down to carrier in front and back

Looks like a good deal 👍

The Charger in Bullitt was a second generation, 1968 model.

First generation chargers are my favorite. I like the interior design with the center console that extends to the rear buckets and electroluminescent dash lighting. Prices are on the rise like everything else but it still makes sense to me to buy one running and driving over a project.

The ad is a bit confusing, but I read it as 13.5 for both cars, but they are willing to sell seperatly . It doesnt exactly say all the trim parts are there either , I read it as all the parts on the cars are original , not that all the parts are there .
