Muncie Equipped Ute: 1965 El Camino

1965-el-camino

Looking at it, this El Camino just looks like another ratty old ute, but under the worn paint and rusty body is a V8 and a Muncie 4 speed! The engine isn’t original, but a bored out 305 with Power Pack heads. The M20 4 speed on the other hand is original to the car! I’d Waxoyl the underside and floors to slow the progression of the rust, slap on a new intake manifold, mount a new carb and just drive this beast! You can find it here on eBay in Enid, Oklahoma with a BIN of $3,850 and the option to make an offer. Our thanks to Peter R for this tip! The seller has sorted the brakes and has it safe to drive, but would you drive it as is or would you give it a complete restoration?

If it really is not too rusty then it is a great deal at 3850 even with the 305!

Had a Pal (circa 1967) whose gold ’64 was a 283/4 speed. What a fun truck. This one has 327 emblems on the fenders. If true, I’d find one (they’re still around) and not let another weekend pass before it was in there. $3850? Could be a great deal for some lucky soul. :-) Terry J

I would not kick it out of the garage for a little rust. And what is waxoly never heard of it.

      I Googled it. It’s a rust inhibitor.

When I owned a Vette, several owners would spray waxoyl into the frame to stock the spread of rust from the inside.
I preferred using POR-15 on the outside of the frame.
Neither way is a permanent solution, just something to slow the decay.
