Ninety Years Young: 1924 Cadillac V63

The seller of this Cadillac listed on eBay describes it as a survivor but it appears to be an older restoration. Bidding is over $12,000 but reserve has not yet been reached. It is advertised elsewhere for $22,900. It runs and drives well. The paint looks nice, but if you look closely there are chips and other issues in the paint.

The interior looks pretty nice if not completely period correct. It isn’t quite as luxurious as the Cadillacs of today, but that’s alright with us.

The rear has seats that fold flat into the floor. They don’t look very comfortable and don’t leave any legroom for the passengers in the back seat. However, if you need to haul some extra passengers, they might come in handy.

It looks original and complete under the hood. This was the first year of Cadillac’s crossplane crankshaft, where the crank pins are offset 90 degrees. This was an important innovation and made for a much smoother running engine.

This Cadillac looks really nice from here, ready to be driven and enjoyed just as it is. We’ll see what someone will be willing to pay for it. Who knows what it might be worth restored, but it surely would be worth less than the cost of a full restoration. Perhaps this grand old limousine will be a nice addition to someone’s collection.

I would not restore this vehicle, it is just fine the way it is. I’ve learned to appreciate a time machine and simply stepping into this car and enjoying it as is would be a much bigger thrill than trying to ‘fix’ paint chips and yadda yadda. Whether it’s an older restoration or survivor that doesn’t matter. It’s a beautiful car.

Wow, and thanks! It’s great to hear you folks love this old Cadillac just the way it is! I can only hope the buyer thinks the same way! The value of cars like these have really dropped so there are some great bargains to be had. Hopefully there are lots of people that feel the way we do and will save old cars like these.
