No Reserve: 1962 Cadillac DeVille Convertible

caddy

So I admit that the large Cadillacs are sort of a secret like for me. They are the antithesis of everything I usually like in a car (lightweight, sporty, two seats, etc.) But this floater really looks beautiful! Listed for sale here on eBay and located in Lodi, New Jersey, this Series 62 DeVille is currently at$1,000 with no reserve! With 108,000 miles on the odometer, I’m hoping there’s lots of car left before any major issues arise. It’s well-equipped too, with options including six-way power seat, power windows, power top, power brakes and power steering. The seller also listed color-coded hubcaps, which I probably wouldn’t have appreciated without them being pointed out. The red interior looks really nice, too. The seller’s description seems very thorough and inspires confidence. What do you think this one will go for? And are you interested?

very nice condition considering the mileage. If I got it I would change the top to white. I guess the red top goes with the red interior. I think he extreme’d on the exterior pictures and missed on the under carriage pictures. Everybody has a floor jack…

I would love to have this ! Mind you it would certainly cost me a fortune to run it with the price of petrol in England………

Very nice. I don’t see a speck of rust, but that red top would have to go, I agree that a white top would look much more classy.

Ah, my first car. The roof wouldn’t go go down in the sunshine and the top wouldn’t go back up when it started to rain.

I loaned it to a friend one day and he ran it out of gas 1/3 mile from my house and left it on the side of the road. He walked to my house to grab my Dad’s gas can and all of a sudden we heard a big crash, so we head back to the Caddy and we find a new 1971 Olds Cutlass hanging off the car totalled, and the damage to the Caddy? A scratch in the bumper. They knew how to build a car in those days…

Black canvas would be better still. Too bad it’s not in my end of the country.

Nice ride. I agree with the white top, black would be a bit much i think, too much contrast. Looks like someone liked shaker cans though, blue on the engine and red on the heater ducts with overspray on the pedals–not cool. And I would have thought the iron works would have been cleaned up and painted before installation of the top. Again–not cool. The seller apparently put some bucks into this car. brakes, front end and engine work on a Caddy of this vintage would not be cheap by any means.

Here’s another vote for a white top.

I also concur, a white top is a must for this car; it adds an elegance to it. On another note, it already looks like it doesn’t have A/C, but it also looks like you don’t have heat either. (Unless of course I am thinking that the hookups on the firewall are for something else.)

If the price stays reasonable this should be a good, affordable early ’60s Caddy for someone. I like the classy pearl white, almost gray paint, and even the bright red roof and pinstriping don’t bother me that much because the car as a whole looks well taken care of. At least somebody stored it properly and bought a new top for it. The engine bay and trunk look tidy, the only minor negative being the rattle can paint job on the engine. If the underside checks out OK and the drivetrain runs well this could be a buy for someone. I almost wish I were in the market for an early-’60s Caddy.

Nice big photos, non-reserve auction, clear straightforward description without hard sell, and even willing to assist with shipping….that’s the kind of seller I like.
