No Reserve: 1994 Chevy Caprice Wagon

This 1994 Chevrolet Caprice wagon is listed at no reserve, and bidding is already quite strong – approaching $7K with plenty of time left in the auction. Mileage is reportedly a low 52,398 and the combination of burgundy paint with wood trim is one of the rarer combinations I’ve seen. The Caprice is powered by a smooth-running LT1 and said to be impressively clean inside and out. Find it here on eBay and located in Brewerton, New York.

While we see plenty of Caprice Classic wagons wearing white or tan paint with the faux woodgrain side paneling, the combination of burgundy and wood is one that pops up less frequently. While it’s hard to say whether that’s sparking any additional interest, it does give the Caprice some additional wow factor not commonly associated with these big body haulers.

The interior remains in outstanding condition, with matching burgundy seating surfaces and door and dash panels. The Caprice is loaded, with the third-row seat, working A/C with a new compressor, fresh Lloyd floor mats, a Class 2 trailer hitch and more. The seller has used it sparingly, and notes its high level of preservation as the marquee selling point.

The LT1 is one of the more revered features of these classic family wagons, and the combination of low running costs and smooth power is hard to beat. While we’ve seen some Caprice Classic wagons sell for less recently, this one checks all the boxes of low mileage, good options, clean cosmetics, and a somewhat unusual color combo. They’re only going up from here.

Lovely looking Caprice wagon. I’ve always loved this generation Caprice and Caprice Classic.

I think the design has aged very well. I kind of miss seeing the sedans everywhere as taxis.

Cooler than almost any late-model SUV but way too much red for my taste

That’s better IMO than a SUV any day! Hope it all goes well and goes to a good home.

I agree. I see nothing wrong with the SUV. But for family transport and business vehicles, this would be more appropriate.

When my dad passed he had one of these. It was a ’91 without the more desirable LT1 that this one has. Back in 2004 it was very very hard for me to get rid of it. I don’t remember what I got for it but it wasn’t much. Glad to see they seem to be getting some appreciation now.

This is a beautiful wagon. I wasn’t a fan of the sedan when they were new, but the wagon has always been nice to me. I’m glad they are gaining in popularity.

Beautiful wagon…I miss the time when wagons served to bring a family closer together, whereas minivans are designed to separate and isolate their headphone wearing occupants. Like the family dinner on Sundays, wagons served a higher purpose that many now will never experience.

If I had the room I would absolutely buy this. I think SUVs are dumb unless one has a real reason for owning one. Wagons are versatile, superb for hauling anything, and a hell of a lot more comfortable. Somebody jump on this one. Regarding appreciation, it doesn’t matter.

I had an 87 Caprice Estate wagon, a 79 Custom Cruiser and a 71 Ford Country Squire. Love GM wagons. Never any real problems with them. SUVs are boring, ugly and expensive. I grew up in The late 1950s and early 60s. No dumb SUVs then. The good old days are gone forever.

No doubt a nice vehicle but I would rather have a Honda CR-V with better mileage and a higher cargo area. I don’t need the third row seat. On the other hand, for $7,000 it’s a cheap way to get transport with big storage.

I love these with the aftermarket six speed manual conversion.

I wonder if the old timers felt that large, 7-9 passenger station wagons were dumb, expensive, and ugly? Our midsize SUV seats our family comfortably, hauls our gear, and fits in the driveway nicely. I don’t see anything stupid about it. It serves the same purpose as these wagon’s did back in the day. I also grew up with them and there isn’t much difference. The minivans that followed were an improvement as far as comfort and versatility. Today’s SUV’s serve the same purpose as those vehicles. I understand it’s obnoxious to see someone charging along at 70MPH in a snow storm driving a size WOW 4×4, but that’s not everybody. It’s all about perspective I think. Yes, our good old days are gone forever, but these are our children and grandchildren’s good old days, and forty years from now a 2019 Chevy Tahoe might be a collectible because “they don’t make them like that anymore son”

The LT-1 was a Corvette motor, it had aluminum heads, the 350 in these cars spec out the same except for cast iron heads. I had a ’95 9C1 Caprice ex cop car with the same motor in this wagon, good motor ,plenty of power, This is a nice wagon, if I were in the market for one I’d bid on it.

Beautiful colors! Could only be better if it was woodgrain-delete. Then there would be MORE RED 🖤

Sold for 7,055 USD – – even with the exchange on the CDN $ plus out import taxes considering the Canuck Land.
I could store it in one of our Igloos up here!
Seriously – – if I’d seen this id be all over it even though I really don’t need another car.
These types of cars Buicks etc. are popular in Western Canada, and it appears that this was a jewel.
LT! will push this this boat along with ease.
My buddy’s 92 Buick Roadmaster GS Woody Wagon surprised many at the local drag strip – – – she’s known as Large Marg (affectionately)
SHe came from Texas about 4 years ago and I drove it today to our 1000 plus downtown car show because my special vehicle is in the Emergency Ward.
I love driving this car. She floats down the road and has lotsa ZIP .
Wish the new owner lots of enjoyment.
