Nomad Fighter: 1956 Studebaker Parkview

Wagon Wednesday is upon us once again and we thought we would kick off the day with a rare two door American wagon that isn’t a Nomad. This 1956 Studebaker Commander Parkview is very rare and while it isn’t a “Barn Find”, it is a survivor. It was originally a Colorado car, but has made its way to Naples, Florida and can be found here on eBay with a BIN of $12,000. It’s ready to drive and should turn a few heads.

The seller has done a little work to the car, but mainly to the interior. They just had the seats recovered, the headliner replaced, and new carpets installed. While the new interior looks nice, it’s too bad they didn’t have the seats recovered in material closer to original. That being sad, this vinyl interior should be comfortable and it appears to match the car nicely.

The Parkview came with Studebaker’s 259 cui V8 and was rated at 170 hp. The seller doesn’t state whether this is the original engine or not, but it looks like it could be. They do claim that it runs and drives nicely and that everything works as it should. One can’t help compare this wagon to Chevrolet’s 1956 Nomad, which had a 162 hp 265 cui V8. We wonder which one would win in a race? Which one would you put your money on, the Parkview or the Nomad?

There isn’t much information about these two door wagons out there, but that’s probably because there weren’t many built. From the little we have been able to learn about it, it seems like the seller’s asking price is a bit high, but hopefully they will accept a more realistic offer. If anyone knows more about the Parkview, we would love to learn more about these unique wagons. Special thanks to Jim S for sharing this find with us!

I like wagons…….always have. The Studebaker Club will have as much info as you can find. The upside to those guys?……..a bunch of them are still alive. Studebaker’s were good cars.

It looks like the passenger rear quarter has been repaired? It may have rust issues as these cars had a lot!
