Numbers Matching 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air III

1969 Pontiac GTO Judge Ram Air III

Up for sale is a claimed, true, 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge barn find. While the seller does not post the full VIN in the listing, there is a photo of the VIN. If you want to take this car home, it has a BIN price of $25,000 or you can make an offer. The seller claims that the title is clean and that there are 36,000 miles on the odometer. It is currently located in Costa Mesa, California. You can view more on eBay.

What makes this car worth the asking price? Well, while there are no photos of it, the engine is claimed to be a true numbers matching Ram Air 3 connected to a four-speed manual transmission. Another unfortunate fact is that the engine has not fired in over 40 years. It is also no longer has the original carburetor either. You will definitely want to give this car a detailed look before buying it, especially since it is lacking photos.

While there is a lot of work that needs to be done, and the exterior condition is rough, the interior is somewhat surprising to see. The photo isn’t the best, but it is not as bad as one would think. There is a seat ripped and some trim pieces appear to be missing, including the shift knob. The floors look pretty dirty and so does the dash. There is no photo of the rear seats or the headliner, but hopefully, they are in similar or better condition.

This is a lot of car for a lot of money but in need of a lot of attention. Considering there are some important photos not present, hopefully, if you see it in person, it turns out to be worthwhile. The seller suggests this car be a father and son investment project. That seems like respectable idea. It was intended to be restored by the current owner, but they have too many projects. Hopefully, someone will give this car attention soon.

Carousel red and a 4 speed, pretty cool car when restored.

Way, way too many items suspect on this Goat to warrant $25K BIN price. Also, the interior wear alone debunks the 36K mileage claim. Ram Air III or not, I see far too much work needed here. Good luck to whoever gets it. Hope they have a spare $100K to put into it in restoration. I sure don’t.

Always a little iffy when there are so few photos and it’s so rough and the claimed mileage is so low. I would be a hard pass on this at this price

If there is damage on the rear, why not display it on the Ebay ad? For $25K, at least max out on the photos of the car.

Sorry but some people just suck at advertising.

Agree with comments here. Lousy photos trying to sell a POS that needs $100,000 resto. He acts like Ram Air III was optional. Best part of the car is that it has the orig engine and a 4 speed. Worth saving for sure, but on my budget. Send it Scott Tiemann. It will be perfect.

Car was built in Baltimore per the tag. Wonder how many salty winters it spent there. Looks like rust at the base of the dash up against the windshield near the vin tag. What is the deal with the zoo and sticker pictures. Stuff I found in the car?

I guess he wants to prove it spent some time in dry old Canada!

I thought that all Judges came with the tach on the hood? I know they were an option on stock GTO’s or was it an option on the Judge as well

The hood tach was not standard on Judges, just very common.

I don’t understand why the seller who restores “high end” cars couldn’t get better photo’s, and if you have the PHS post that as well. I could care less about a zoo map and a few stickers in the glove box. The Ram Air lll was one of Pontiac’s best all around engine.

The zoo map does show that it was from 1978 (circled in red). Very important!

My guess is that the seller who says he restores high end cars for a living is walking away from this one for a reason.

Father and son project for the rich and richer. I thought the Ram Air lll was standard in the Judge,, now if it had a Ram Air lV the offering might be justifiable…probably not.

If memory serves me right the GTO JUDGE did not come out until 1970 and was offered in only competition ORANGE color.

The Judge package came out early in 1969. Carousel Red(identical to Chevy’s Hugger Orange) was the signature color and the first 2,000 Judges were painted this color, then the Judge was available in any GTO color. For 1970 Orbit Orange(actually a yellow hue) was the signature color, but all colors were available. The Judge’s third and final year was 1971, but there was no special color. The Judge option was cancelled in early 1971.

There was a lady that grew old with her Judge – a 1969 that was in my hood and I knew of it in it’s early years. Must have been a lot of us guys trying to get it as she would barley open the door to speak to you. She was use to me as I kept coming by and was offering her more money every time as it sat under that old Cottonwood tree. She made comments in the later years that here son was suppose to come get it. She died and it moved as the house sold too – always wondered were it went – it was pretty darn original with the foam still present between the hood and motor.

It’s not carousel red now it’s flat black primer!! $25000 is way to much for a car that needs every nut and bolt taken out!!!!

Buddy brought a dark blue Ram Air III 4 spd GTO over from Vancouver Island in the early 80’s and the cowl had already rusted out. Still an odd place to rust out and especially when the car was still relatively young.
