Original Driver! 1930 Ford Model A Pickup

If you have a stack of $100 bills laying around, you can’t get a much cooler old project truck than this one! It is a 1930 Ford Model A and can be found here on Craigslist.com with an asking price of $8,500. The truck is located in Gilbert, Arizona and although the seller doesn’t give any indication of the trucks history, based on the condition, I wouldn’t be surprised if it spent its life in the South West. Check out more of this amazing truck below! Thanks to Ikey H. for the tip on this great ride!

Although this truck is nearly 90 years old, it sounds like it is a very reliable driver. The engine, transmission, and clutch have been rebuilt with only about 500 miles on them since. The brakes have been done along with the engine accessories including the water pump and carburetor.

Unfortunately, there is only one photo of the interior and it doesn’t show much besides the dash and steering wheel. Also, the ad doesn’t mention any details about the interior, but these trucks are fairly simple. I guess the seller is more focused on the exterior and running gear, which is okay.

The wheels have been sandblasted and powder coated and are wrapped in brand new tires. It is refreshing to see a truck of this era that still features its stock ride height and un-chopped top. While these trucks make awesome hot rods, if this was my truck, I might just enjoy it as-is. What would you do with it?

Good thing its on the other side of the country. I’d have it and be using it, as is, for local hauling of odds and ends. Things I don’t want to do with the car….

A fair buy at half the price.

This is a great looking truck, but man – they are small!

I checked one out some time ago and couldn’t get my size 12’s in the door because the seat base and door post are only about 6 inches apart.

The bed is the size of a healthy wheelbarrow….but it looks fantastic, and with the rebuilt components this is a great truck.

The bed on this A looks about as useful as the bed on my neighbors newer Ford crew cab. When he goes to Menard’s for plywood or sheetrock he always takes his wife’s old dodge Caravan.

Would love to have this just for driving to the beer and hardware store – would be the coolest truck in the parking lot, hands down.

As much as I dislike the Fake Patina fad, this one appears original, and may have to stay that way. Love the look.

I would use it just around town for hauling garden supplies from the store. These can’t really keep up with freeway traffic, especially on the hills.

Dad bought a similar 1930 closed-can pickup in Sacramento in early 1974 before the first of three kids were born. The A was used by a local painter, and boy did it look like it. Dad restores it to rock moss green, black fenders, and straw yellow wheels. Mom used it as a daily driver with us three kids as dad took the bus into downtown for work.

Fast forward to 2009 and I bought the family A off of my parents. I love that thing. Refinished the bed boards (that wasn’t stock), but reluctantly sold her as I couldn’t safely drive her. At 6’6” and 220 lbs, I’m too big for the cab. Sad, but her current owner is using her as a daily driver and work truck as a solar installer in Hawaii!

Great rigs. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. GLTTS.

It’s just perfect running and as is but it needs real brakes. Trust me, you will want them.

If my wife had another horse and we needed something to haul a bale or two of hay I’d buy this over another new overpriced pickup in a second. This is cooler than cool.
