Owned Since 1962, In Barn Since 1988

TR3

The TR3 is such a fun car to drive. Here’s your chance to own one listed here on craigslist. The owner states that this is a “rust free” example and it appears to be on the top side.  There are no images of the floorboards and/or the frame provided so you may wish to ask for some more photos.

My guess is there is 111k or more under the wheels with the odometer showing 11K.

You will need a battery to get her started so we don’t know how long since the engine has been turned over.  Is it locked up?

A second engine, gearbox, hub caps with other spare parts included with this package.  The seller said they will consider offers, so if you are in the market for a TR3, you may want to contact them.

Cheers,
Robert

~ If this Triumph is truly rust-free I wood certainly absolutely unequivocally believe eleven thousand miles. We cannot see full interior or under carriage images but this could be the real deal.

A British car @ 111,000k w/o corrosion in the northwest??

      . That is rare.

I wonder what an extra spare engine is.

No 1 is a ‘spare engine’

And No 2 is an EXTRA ‘spare engine’
meaning that three go with the car? Awww, we know that he simply cannot handle our English language.

What you can see of it looks pretty good, whether it’s got 11K or 111K miles. If I wanted a TR3 this is the kind of car I’d want to be looking at. If it’s really rust free, and with the spare engine and parts, it would be worth the $12.5K he wants, or maybe less if you go there with a cash-in-hand offer. You’d be done working on it way sooner than if you ‘saved’ money by buying a rusty junker for half the cost of this car.

I remember as a kid there was one of these behind my mom’s boyfriends house. We used to play in it all the time. I grew up around junk cars. You wouldn’t believe some of the stuff my dad and uncles considered junk in the late 70s early 80s.

Spare engine(s) and several clues that suggest a repaint tells me this is 111K miles. I own a TR3 that has spent lots of it’s life in barns. First owner drove it from June to September only and parked it around 1980. The guy I bought it off had driven it from ’85-89, then parked it until I picked it up in ’99 (he switched to a Miata and has never looked back, as of this summer he is on his 4th one).

Mileage in ’99 was documented at 90K miles and there was no rust on the frame or floors. Lots of elbow grease and rebuilt the sand filled carbs (first 20 years of driving on dirt roads and you will need to do that…) and I have had a dependable driver for 15+ years. I have actually met all of the previous owners, got lots of paperwork and can tell you mine is in similar shape to this red one, which is in no way an 11k mile car.
