Parts Car Included: 1977 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible

Looking at it, you wouldn’t guess that this Corvette was ever in a garage fire. The previous owner purchased it in 1986, but at some point their garage caught fire leaving the car with some serious smoke damage. They decided to do a full body off restoration, but as things seem to often go, they never finished it. It’s had a ton of work done, but there’s still a lot left to finish. With a $3,000 BIN, it could be a worthwhile project once you consider that the seller is throwing in a complete parts car! You can find this deal here on eBay in Clinton Township, Michigan. So, do you think this is a reasonable asking price for a pair of 1977 Corvettes?

To much work for a car that’s not so desirable!!

Didn’t make a convertible in ’77… Last year for a factory convertible was ’75. Not sure what is going on here but I would run away!!

Must be a mixture of parts and a title.
1975 was the last year for a C3 Corvette convertible .

The sellers says the previous owner was building a custom convertible, and added the rear clip as part of the conversion project. You are right though, it is a real mixture of parts. The hood, front clip and front bumper support are 80-82 parts, and the rear clip is 74-75.

As project cars go, this one is a lot more reasonable than most. For someone wanting to build a custom Corvette, it looks like the hard part is done, and now it’s mostly just paint and reassembly.

I did this conversion on my 75. If the frame and birdcage are good, this is a deal. My parts for the conversion ended up over a thousand dollars, and a lot of time gathering parts. Not to mention the effort to install the parts.
It may not be an original, but it’s a cheap way for someone to get a corvette convertible. If the work is properly done, it’s really hard to tell it wan’t an original convertible.

Geez the parts car body looks decent. Lots to think about here. Smog era vettes don’t have the value but its still a vette, IMHO. Good luck to the new owner!

Someone thought it was worth $3K. The convertible hardtop is worth at least a grand. The cheapest one on EBay right now is $1.350.
