1957 Ford Fairlane

My mom’s second car was a ’57 Fairlane in blue and white, and she loved “Bluebird” dearly. My father and I built a model of it for her years ago because she remembered it so fondly. This customized ’57 is located in Torrington, Wyoming and is offered here on craigslist for $14,000. According to the seller, they just pulled it from a barn where it had been stored for almost 30 years. That must have been one heck of a barn—either that or the seller needs to go into detailing! The Fairlane appears really beautiful in admittedly low-quality pictures, with some nice custom touches like the grille, side pipes (although it’s got dual exhausts in the rear; maybe a cutout?), spotlights, and wheel covers. According to the seller the car is ready to cruise, and it certainly looks the part. The interior isn’t original but looks quite presentable, as does the engine. I’d love to take my Mom out in the car; if only it were closer! I’m one of the few that likes the ’57 Fords better than the ’57 Chevys. What do you Barn Finds readers think of this ’57?

    That must be one seriously hermetically sealed, climate controlled barn. Certainly looks to be in great shape for a vehicle that’s been sitting 30 years.

    I also tend to differ from main stream as well since I prefer the ’58 model years of most vehicles over the ’57’s… even ’57 Chevys

    I’m with you on the ’57 Fords altho my hot button is the shorter 300 post…it’s on my bucket list. I think this thing is a buy-waaaay cheaper than a ’57 Chebby in like condition.

    If this were a Fairlane 500 & a true two door hardtop, not a sedan, the price would be more in line. I really dislike dummy spots. Otherwise a really nice 57.

    Those are dummy side pipes too. I remember seeing them on lowriders back in the day; haven’t seen any in years. Silly then and now, but it’s an entertaining bit of period customizing and I’d leave them.

    It needs some help on the interior, but it’s already non-original so there’s plenty of latitude to go wild. Otherwise, it’s a great-looking car.

    57 Ford is certainly my favorite Ford. Not sure I could decide between that and a 57 Chevy. I guess with the Ford I would just like to cruise, after I took the skirts, sidepipes, and dummy spots off. In a 57 Chevy, I would want to go out and burn rubber.
    Agree the AD is a bit vague, ie, what did you have to do to it after sitting for 30 years? That part makes me a bit suspicious, but I do like it and think the price is fair, if it is as represented

    Had one (57Ford). Loved it. Never cared for 57 Chevies. I had a 63 lowrider Impala SS that was good too. Nice car but 14K is out of the ball park for me.
