Picturesque: 1973 Buick Estate Wagon

buickwagon

You’re probably wondering what’s picturesque about this old wagon, apart from the pretty lake behind it. For that, you’d have to visit the eBay auction page, where the opening bid is $400 but there is a reserve. The car itself is a formerly parked find that was brought north from Texas, and the ad explains how the engine has been recently rebuilt and some other work that was done to the car. So what’s “picturesque”? The seller has included 147 pictures in the auction, many of them detailed shots of areas of concern or potential concern. I only wish that this much detail went into eBay listings for far more expensive cars! Kudos to the seller for believing that a picture is worth 1,000 words and explaining completely about their Buick. There’s even an explanation of how to find videos of the car on YouTube. If you’re interested in an inexpensive family hauler project, give this one a look!

I wish this seller had more cars on ebay, just to look at the pics!! I do not think these pics will bring more money for this particular car though.

some dealer or auction house needs to hire this person to handle the listing of vehicles for them. everything you need to know about this car is in the photos. on some vehicle this will bring more money, on others it will just make the sale. great job on the listing.

as stated, the seller has provided LOTS of pics . I don’t claim to be a body repair expert, but, this needs a lot . Station wagons that haven’t been used for sedans for the same year should be pretty easy to find . judging by the wear and tear of the interior, I would say this has much more than the 97K miles might be 197, or even 297K . It would be a classy car once restored , although I wouldn’t stick with the original white , a black, or a deep midnight blue , and, figure out what is wrong with that engine

Is this 455 the same as the Olds 455? If so it would have a forged crankshaft.

Randy, it’s a totally different motor than Olds and only the 330 Olds has forged crank….
I have 22 Olds motors on stands…455..425…s/s 400…350-W31…330 can’t be too careful. may be a shortage?

Wow, I was sure I read somewhere that the Olds 455 was very desirable due to its forged crank. I guess I better work on my reading comprehension. Thanks for the clarification.
Where are you located, I may be coming into a 70ish cutlas S. I’d love to make a W-30 clone out of it.

ya its a cool old wagon, but yikes! what it would cost to bring this one back, you could buy one that is in mint condition for less.

$1500 and reserve not met? Sorry, but this barge needs everything.

Actually, the Olds 425 from ’66-’67 had the forged cranks. Olds 455 used cast cranks.

My father had a burgundy one with the wood grain. It’s cool to see pictures of one. Our family did a lot of traveling in that car. It brings back a lot of memories.
