Possible L84 Found: 1965 Corvette

You just never know when you’ll come across an interesting find! You might spot it driving down the road or while on the job, you just never know. This seller came across this Corvette on a job site and talked to the previous owner about it. They claimed it had been parked about 30 years ago and that it original came with a fuel injected 327! It’s definitely been parked for a long time, but the claim that it’s a fuelie is something that’s worth looking into. Fuel injected C2s are quite sought after and this one really is a 375 horse fuelie, it’s definitely worth restoring! I’ll let the Corvette experts weigh in on this one, which can be found here on eBay in Rensselaer, Indiana with a current bid of $9k.

Without documentation or the engine, it’s hard to say for sure if this really is an L84. Hopefully one of you knows more about these cars and if there is anyway to prove it is what they claim! Now for those of you that don’t know what the big deal is about finding an L84 is, well it’s pretty simple really. The L84 engine is one of the most powerful production small blocks Chevrolet has ever built and put out an impressive 375 horsepower!

Sadly, even if this is a real L84, finding a replacement engine will be tough. Not only do you have to find an engine block, but you’d also have to track down a Rochester fuel injection system. If you happen to find everything you need to put it back to original specs, you also have to deal with a complete restoration. Given how much these are going for, if it’s real it might just be worth the challenge. So what do you think, is it the real deal?

Why stop at L84? Dream BIG! Why not imagine it is an L88?

Odd that nobody suspects they have a car that was a base motor/powerglide vette. ..

The fiberglass is what looks terrible if the chassis is good and you can get the right engine then this is a steal. If it it has been sitting for that long I suspect that the frame and much of the rest are in good enough condition to warrant taking it to a 100 point car.

He said the frame was repairable. So what do you think? Is there a way to check if it was a fuelie? I don’t understand why he tore part of the new title away so you couldn’t see the name & address? All he had to do is put a piece of paper over it.

If you look closely that’s exactly what they did.

I will never understand the thought process that allows someone to think paying a significant premium for some numbers printed where no one can see that almost no one can decode is a good idea.

And doubly so if you don’t even have matching numbers.

Same people will then turn their noses at a well done clone.

Awfully high VIN for an option that was only available for the early part of the model year. Interesting that there are no under hood shots. Wonder how long it’s been in the rust belt?

I love Corvettes but this one I would run away from. Way too much wrong with the entire project.
