Pretty In Patina: 1966 Ford Mustang

1966 Ford Mustang

I know there are a lot of different opinions on patina, I won’t go into that debate, but I have to admit this 1966 Mustang looks pretty awesome with its paint worn through and dirty. I’m not sure I would want to spend much on this one, as it’s going to take a lot to even make it a driver. If it were a V8 car, it might be a bit more tempting though. I guess you could build it how you want it, but I would just rebuild the original inline 6. You can find this rough and dirty Mustang here on eBay in Fort Worth, Texas with an opening bid of $5! I’m really curious as to where the doors went though and I hope they are still with it, as you could never really replicate the original patina on this one. So do you like the worn look of this pony or would you rather have it with shiny new paint?

There are sooo many parts missing! No matter how cheap it sells for, it would cost too much to make it drivable when you can pick up a nice driver in $5K range. Looks like he likes to sell parts off Mustangs, since he has 2 like this. If this money-sucker had doors and was a driver, I’d go with the patina, and put a nicely built 289/302 in there and start sucking the doors off other cars. Love the slant six in it!

AD states it’s not the original in line 6 included. The VIN shows with car originally had the 289-2V V8. Also has five lug wheels at all corners.
Body looks pretty solid from firewall back. This is more or less a rolling shell with a junk motor thrown in for good measure.

He’s a hustler. Sold everything that was worth saving, now wants someone to scrape up the bones & drag them off. And he has the intestinal fortitude to stick a RESERVE on this?

I see this one is in Texas. I don’t even think the “Gas Monkey” guys would want this one! Maybe the “Fired up” guys would though!

Why spend a fortune on a Mustang in this shape when there are hundreds for sale on eBay, Craigslist, etc. in excellent condition. To rebuilt the car, it would be costly even if you did it yourself.

Buy this and you might have the only V8 Mustang that was converted to a straight six.
