So, the last squarebody I wrote about generated a lot of interest. Let’s hope this does the same. Up for sale is a 1984 Chevrolet C-10 short bed pickup that is at a current bid price of $8,900. It has 80,907 miles on it and has been a one-family owned truck. The VIN is listed and it has a clear title. It was sold new in Phoenix, Arizona. It is being sold from Wichita, Kansas. Powering this pretty white pickup is a 305 cubic inch V8 connected to an automatic transmission. Additional goodies include power steering, power brakes, cruise control, and most excitingly air-conditioning. Oddly enough though, the dealer who is selling the car had it lowered 3 inches in the rear with spindles and re-arching the springs, and 2 inches up front. Interesting choice. The truck might have been a trade-in.
The interior is immaculate. According to the listing, the truck used to have a rubber mat and padding, but the seller installed carpet. When that install happened, the seller noted that the floors were in great condition and took pictures, and they are in the listing. The original rubber mat will come with the truck if the buyer wishes.
A topper came on the bed but was removed because it was scraping the top sides of the bed. They had those places repainted to match the rest of the truck. Writing about two of these trucks in a matter of a day has really been interesting. Prices and condition are always fascinating to compare. If there is one thing I have noticed, it is that being patient is always worthwhile. A better deal will come around eventually, and that is when you want to buy.
I like the truck but one thing i would change is put the suspension back to original. I’m so tired of everything “needing” to be lowered.

My father-one-law had one similar to this but a Silverado. He worked as a service writer for the Cadillac dealer in Naples, Florida. He bought the truck new, but at one point had it repainted in the original color a bronze. He sold it in 2000 when he bought a new GMC. He keeps his vehicles looking like show room new. He does that with everything including his lawn. He’s now 84 and still working, although he now works in the office due to his health. He’s only had two jobs in his life. He worked selling Buicks in Cincinnati, Ohio for 25 years then moved to Naples in 1973 because he loved the fishing there. He went to work at DeVoe Cadillac in Naples that same year. He’s a great man.

Long run on this body, ’73-’87, they were everywhere for years, my ’87 was nice. Like the lowering here for that sharp look but don’t expect a whole lot from the 305. Interior is nice the only problem my long legged self had was a lack of comfortable leg room in the ’87.

This generation of Chevy pickup is becoming very popular!! I think due to the lack of 68-72 models and the fact they are being priced out of most people’s budget!! This truck looks sharp and besides it being an anemic 305 it’s worth the price in this shape!!
An interesting note about trucks is until recently is that the rear bumpers were options! I remember a chrome step bumper costing an extra $400.00 from the dealer. The silver painted step bumpers with the dealers name engraved on it was $250.00 or so. The chrome one on this truck was an option as well. Most came with one like this truck but painted white.
That seems like a lot of money for a low model average truck.
