READER AD: 1950 Chrysler Windsor Newport

In 1950, you had a lot of options for a new car, but if you wanted a two-door hardtop with lots of standard features the Chrysler Windsor Newport was likely to be at the top of your list. They weren’t overly expensive, were very comfortable to drive and had stylish looks. This example is said to be a mostly original survivor that has been well cared for throughout its life. Reader Jordan A is looking for a good home for it, so be sure to take a look at his eBay listing via the link below, where he is asking $10,500. And if you’d like to take a closer look at it in person, you can find it in Polk City, Florida.

As you can see, the interior is in nice shape throughout. This would have been quite the ornate interior in ’50, but not quite as luxurious as a Cadillac. Even by today’s standards, this would be a comfortable and pleasant place to spend some time!

Power comes from Chrysler’s durable 250 cui flathead inline-six. With 116 horsepower on tap, it won’t be breaking any speed records, but it will get this Windsor down the road nicely. It’s a wonderfully smooth engine and this one is said to run great with no issue and no leaks!

Even if it’s seen some restoration work over the years, this Newport looks to be in great shape and with less than 10k having been built it truly deserves to go to a good home! If you have any questions about it, please leave them in the comments for Jordan. And, if you’d love to have it, be sure to take a closer look at his listing via the link below!

I just did the math on getting this beauty into Australia. With our lousy exchange rate, plus shipping insurance, internal US shipping, 10% goods and services tax and shipping, it will cost some AU$21,431.00 landed here. Then hand-in-pocket again for local insurance, registration and a nice set of whitewalls, I’m going to have to say a reluctant “NO” to this beautiful example!

      How much was shipping?
1400 when we shipped a 30 Dodge to AU. That was 4 years ago from San Francisco.

David, I have shipped 3 vehicles to and from the US since 2003 and my current knowledge to ship this car with a “reputable, no-worries, fully trustworthy” shipper is about AU$3,000. All of my transactions have been in and out of LA.

Wow, that rear bumper is gargantuan! But what I love about this car is you can see the rear wheel, no skirt or other nonsense back there like some older cars…

The only thing I would do to this car is slap some broadway whites on it. Would class it up a bit.

Very much reminds me of a 1949 Series 62 from the windshield forward. I had an unrestored 49 Cadillac and the interior was not what I would call luxurious–comfortable, yes, but not luxurious.

The front end looks like a Cadillac from that era.
