READER AD: 2002 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

As impressive as the C7 Corvette performance is, I think I’d rather save a boatload of money and buy a C5 with the Z06 package like this one! At $23,995, it isn’t necessarily cheap, but it sure seems like a lot of performance for the money. Being a 2002 model year Z06 means that it’s equipped with the 405 horsepower LS6, 6-speed transmission, FE4 suspension package and was only offered as the more rigid fixed-roof coupe. It all added up to a 0 to 60 mph time of 4 seconds and some impressive handling. This one has seen just 32k miles and is in very nice shape. If you’re in the market for a fast machine, you can take a closer look at this one via the link below.

What Makes It Special? It’s a Z06 with the 6-speed manual transmission and leather. It’s never been in an accident and is in awesome condition throughout!

Body Condition: The body and paint are in awesome condition. It’s absolutely rust free!

Mechanical Condition: This thing runs and sounds great!

It might be newer than most of the vehicles we usually feature, but it’s 18-years old and a pretty special car. Chevrolet built just 8,297 Z06s in 2002 and it’s hard to say just how many of those are left. With 405 hp and 400 lb-ft of torque, I’m sure more than a few ended up being wrecked. This one looks very clean and well optioned, so it should prove to be a really fun machine to have.

While I still prefer the looks of earlier Corvettes better, you’d never get the level of performance or comfort that a later one like this provides. With the C8’s release approaching, Chevy has marked down C7 prices significantly, but one would still set you back more than double the asking price of this one. Sure, a new one would be faster, but would it really offer twice the performance? I highly doubt it!

GM dealers haven’t operated out of barns since probably the early 1920’s. Prefer to see private sales, but hey, it’s your website.

It’s a good looking car. I have to admit though I’m not a big fan of the C5’s. They look overly fat to me compared to the C4’s and IMO the C4’s handles far superior to the C5’s in other than straight line acceleration. 2 positives for the C5 IMO is they are easier to enter and exit along with having a trunk in them. I’m still not a fan of the transaxel setup on the C5’s as it’s much more difficult to work on at home vs. the C4’s conventional setup.
Here’s wishing the seller well on this one.

I’d find space for it! Nice example of what a Corvette represents. Pure performance.

Few thing to watch out for. Clutch is a major job. Bad batches of valve springs. Hit or miss thru the 2001-2004 build. Brake module EBCM failures. Watch the Z06 episode on Wheeler Dealers.

Was just looking at a 3 year old VW e-Golf for the same price with only 199 lb-ft of torque. Hmm… or a gorgeous blue rocket with 400 lb ft of torque and ten times the sex appeal.

Well, that’s an easy decision :)

I’ve had C-3’s and a C-4 (lots of problems). I have this Beautiful C-5 now. I would love to add this one but it is just too much money to justify it’s purchase.

How much do you think it’s worth? $18,000?

First thing we did to the 2002 Z06 was install a power antenna.
Factory said they were saving weigh by eliminating the antenna motor and reducing the car’s insulation.
Told the dealer I was cleaning up the aerodynamics.
