Reader Finds 2-18-14

We got a lot of great reader finds for today! There is a variety of barn/field fresh cars, as well as several cars that are already running and driving. If you are looking for a barn find that someone has already done the work to get it back on the road, have a look at the Ford Torino 429 Cobra. The seller claims it is mostly original and has just 18k miles on the odometer. If you’d rather have something smaller, more economical, or with some patina, take a look at the Crosley Wagon. The mechanical and structural components have been restored, but the body was left looking barn fresh. The other ready to drive barn find is a Studebaker 2R10 Pickup. It was just recently serviced with a full tune up and all new brake lines. For those looking for a project, the Plymouth Road Runner looks to be a great starting point. Be sure to check the rest of the reader finds and let us know which is your favorite!

This man will take one Torino to go. That Camaro and the Road Runners are just too cooked to do it.

I’d like to find a Crosley to make something of, but this one is too far done for my needs. I would get rid of the original engine and transmission and replace it with something…unique. I don’t know just what yet, but possibly a screaming two stroke from a 2 wheel drive 4 wheeler or even the engine from a really large industrial lawn mower. I think if I could push 75-100hp through that little thing it would absolutely scream. Hmm…I wonder where I could get the drivetrain from a Suzuki Cappuccino…

I bet the fire truck is fun I have a 66 C80 that I bought of ebay for 2k Has a 366 BBC with a 5 Speed with 2 sp rear Got 7mpg when we drove it from Wendel Idaho to our off grid cabin in So UTAH. Love the truck has 34,000 miles and no rust. The doors don’t even sag… so I vote for this Fire Truck

I just wish there was an actual store that I could go browse old barn and field finds like this. It would be the Costco or Sam’s Club of classic cars! All the joy of looking at old cars, but in a nice climate controlled warehouse. I know that sounds lazy, but given that as I type this it’s a blizzard outside I think it’s justified. The real question is how would they store and organize the cars? Would I have to load it myself? What about the shopping carts? Would they be carts or massive flatbeds? This is making me want to open said store. It could be Carsco or Josh’s Club! What do you think Don?

I think your superb website is plenty good on the depth and variety of stock. Being an old school type of fellow, I don’t mind shopping on your site one bit. Can you imagine the pilferage in a real store?

Yeah the modifications ruined it for me. It would have made it into the collage if it hadn’t been for the flames.

That ’40 chevy special deluxe makes me smile. Clean it up , make it safe ( lose the shin splitting hitch) and enjoy at 45 m.p.h. Don’t lose the standard oil red crown valve cap on the spare tire though .
