Restoration Ready 1978 Porsche 911 Targa

It is safe to say that there is a long road ahead of this 1978 Porsche 911 Targa. Resting on the ground as only a shell of its former self, it does have a clean title and a buy it now price of $5,000. You can take this Porsche home from Bulverde, Texas, where it currently resides. You can view more on the listing here on eBay.

There are no parts or engine pieces that come with the car. Simply a rusted body shell. Thankfully the Texas weather seems to have kept the rust from consuming the car. The floor is pretty much still there. It really makes me wonder if this car was inside for a period of time. Longer than it was outside?

It also makes me wonder, that if it was outside, how was it not stolen? It must have been hidden away out of common sight. In the main photo of the car, you can see a fleet of vehicles in the background. It must be in a commercial location out of sight from collector eyes or thieves. But in Texas, that is not a fun risk to try and steal.

Being in the condition and state that it is, it is really hard for me not to think of going unconventional with it. People Baja Beetles all the time. Why not do it with a Porsche? Lift it and make a battle car. That would be one of the most unique vehicles ever to show up at the local off road club with. But, if done well, it is something you could be proud of and hopefully, respect will be given all around.

Ridiculous price. This is an SC, not a long-hood. All-in for a driver-level restoration would be well north of what you would pay for a complete and running comparable car.

This is a new level of Porsche insanity……. $500 would be good to make a mad max outlaw buggy.

He’s selling the title. It will likely be used on a previously flooded or totaled car. He has nothing to lose, and it beats paying a scrap dealer to haul away. I’m sure he couldn’t care less what anyone on this site thinks, it’s about the money.

Define “clean” title. This looks like something that may have been recovered from a chop shop.

Love rusted out Mopars number one. Will never like any Chevies, clean or rusty. Remember, Vega, Aztec. Endless list of GM junk

If that were in my yard, you would lift the hood and see a new stainless steel BBQ fabricated and hiding underneath.

That’s the way we party up in Jersey. Lol

Yeah, stupid price and hate that somebody butchered off the Targa bar. If I had a totaled out but still complete SC I’d give maybe a grand and swap everything over.

I love 911’s but any fool can see that this car is not a candidate for restoration.
    Let it rust in pieces.

Hey, this isnt such a bad deal if you have a wrecked 911 or one with no bottom end, This tub may get some guy back onto the road,,,,,after countless days rebuilding. Its worth $2500 all day, not 5 Grand.
